👋 new DLAB staff incoming Hi, my name is Tana, and I’m so excited to meet you! 😊 I’m a Design Engineer from Spain with a passion for the maker movement. Recently, I joined the #team as the new Technical Lab Manager at the Demonstrator Lab Amsterdam #Makerspace. A small step for a robot, a giant leap for agriculture. This was our prototype in July, a big milestone for us: a robot, smaller than a hand, taking its first stroll on a tree branch. Staggering but never giving up, it showcased the potential of bioinspired design and sustainable materials in reshaping the future of farming. 3D-printed components made of soy oil and fermented starch, inspired by the claws and dynamics of squirrels, this little robot can autonomously monitor groves and orchards with unmatched precision, spotting pests and diseases for tempestive intervention. And this is just the beginning—soon, it will assist with olive harvesting and branch pruning, setting a new standard for eco-friendly, automated agriculture. A huge thanks to Demonstrator Lab Amsterdam for making this possible, offering us office space, budget for materials and an awesome community where we can learn and grow together.
