𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗼 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 Today, on #WorldFoodDay, EFAD reflects on the 𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, which emphasizes that every European citizen should have access to safe and appropriate nutritional care provided by dietitians. This commitment aligns with our vision for a healthier population, ensuring 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱. Yet, the global picture reminds us of persistent hunger. According to FAO, despite producing enough food to feed the world, around 733 million people still face hunger, exacerbated by weather shocks, conflicts, economic challenges, inequality, and the pandemic. This deeply impacts vulnerable communities, many of whom are agricultural households, highlighting the widening disparities across and within nations. In Europe, #FoodInsecurity is also a growing concern, highlighting the urgency of addressing these inequalities and ensuring that everyone regardless, has the right to adequate and nutritious food. On this day, let’s renew our efforts to ensure that everyone, everywhere, can exercise their right to adequate food—𝘢 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵—and strive to support sustainable and resilient food systems for all. 📌 https://lnkd.in/dQb-C9qy

How can we link Research & Innovation in #food, #health and #sustainability? Today, 11 partners from 9 countries of the HDHL #Food4Health project kicked off in Paris to explore just that. Food4Health zooms in on 2 pressing issues that demand immediate attention: ❤️🩹The increasing burden of diet-related Non Communicable Diseases #NCDs 🔥The escalating threat of #ClimateChange If we want to contribute to the European Commission’s Mission goals on Climate Change and Cancer, we need to shift towards a healthy and sustainable dietary pattern for all citizens. HDHL has heavily supported the alignment, promotion and funding of research in the fields of nutrition, citizens’ health and food. HDHL is thus in a key position to break down silos and increase alignment in R&I priorities, and to align research, policy and other stakeholders such as the Horizon Europe partnerships FutureFoodS, ERA4Health, Agroecology Europe Association, and other initiatives. With a grant of €2.4 million from the European Commission’s #HorizonEurope programme, this Coordination and Support Action (CSA) addresses the intertwined challenges of food and diet-related Non Communicable Diseases and Climate Change by fostering collaboration and aligning research efforts across food, health, and environment domains. We thank all our partners for kickstarting this joint effort and INRAE for hosting this first meeting!

📚 Weekend Read Alert! 📚 Take some time this weekend to explore this latest edition of Kompass Nutrition and Dietetics, packed with research to empower evidence-based approaches in pediatric nutrition and dietetics! ✨ Featured Highlight: A powerful knowledge transfer article by Derya Dikmen 👉 Save the Future: Climate Change is a Threat to Child Health and Nutrition 🔍 Key Takeaways: 🌍 Climate change increases risks of malnutrition, respiratory diseases, and foodborne illnesses in children. 🥦 Dietitians can advocate for climate-friendly, nutrient-dense diets using local, sustainable foods. 💡 Vulnerable children in low-income communities need targeted support for access to healthcare, clean water, and stable food supplies. 📢 Raising awareness is crucial. Families and communities must learn about reducing food waste, portion control, food safety, and plant-based nutrition. 🌱 By integrating these strategies, dietitians can safeguard children’s health and contribute to a more sustainable future. ❗️This is the first systematic review and meta-analysis that highlights the most pressing climate health risks for children. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dJhAYmmz
