Improving Quality of Life for UK Patients with Balance and Mobility Disorders University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Joins the HealthTrust Europe LLP Framework Agreement and Successfully Fits First Patient with the BalanceBelt University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) joined the HealthTrust Europe Framework Agreement for Patient Mobility Products and has successfully fitted its first patient with the BalanceBelt - an innovative wearable device designed to enhance mobility and stability for those suffering from severe vestibular loss. The BalanceBelt utilizes vibro-tactile technology to provide real-time feedback, helping patients regain independence, confidence, and mobility. With built-in motion sensors detecting movement across multiple planes, the device delivers gentle vibrations to guide posture and orientation. Lightweight, self-contained, and rechargeable, the BalanceBelt is designed for comfortable daily wear. Dr. Diego Kaski, Consultant Neurologist at UCLH, commented: "Joining the HealthTrust Europe Framework Agreement enables us to integrate innovative solutions like the BalanceBelt into our clinical offerings when trials show positive outcomes. The successful fitting of our first patient highlights our commitment to advancing patient care through medical technology."   Merijn Klarenbeek, CEO of BalanceBelt, added: “NHS Foundation Trust hospitals are a key focus for BalanceBelt, as approximately 196,000 patients in the UK with balance and mobility issues could benefit from our solution. They sparked my excitement for developing medical devices, which has eventually brought me here at Elitac Wearables. My goal at Elitac Wearables is to develop an #ECG garment, which can be used during daily physical activity. The ECG should be accurate and reliable while maximising user comfort. Congratulations to our graduation intern, Karlijn van den Akker! A (former student of) Industrieel Product Ontwerpen te #Rotterdam, Karlijn has successfully completed her internship at Elitac Wearables, graduating with an impressive 9! This achievement showcases her dedication and hard work. During her time here, Karlijn immersed herself in the #Strider project, contributing significantly to improving the the daily lives and confidence of #stroke survivors. The result of her internship is an optimised #wearable, that better fits the users' needs and will be used in the next round of user tests. We wish her all the best in her future activities. Hello network, my name is Simeon Hailemariam. I study #Biomedical #Engineering at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences . This week, I started my graduation #internship at Elitac Wearables. The scope of my bachelor is very broad. Among other things, I have learned how to develop #technology for #health applications, validate it, and test it. Elitac Wearables and UMC Utrecht are on a mission to make #MRI scans easier, and more accurate, by applying smart clothing with integrated electronics. For my #graduation internship, I will design Radio Frequency (RF) coils which can be integrated into clothing, specifically for the prostate region. This will be an #innovative way to help doctors obtain better #MRI scans of this region, improving #diagnostics and #treatment.
