GreenTech and AVAG | Greenhouse Technology Center are extending their partnership for another six years to boost innovation, technology, and sustainability in the industry worldwide! 🌍 "A win-win for all parties involved, both in the Netherlands and internationally," says Mariska Dreschler (GreenTech). Annie van de Riet (AVAG) adds, "We continue to build the international stage and platform to share knowledge and present innovations, so that we can provide answers to the challenges facing the sector," A collaboration platform like GreenTech also means the presence of competitors. "Either it contributes to the solution for the grower, or it keeps us on our toes to do things better," says Ton van Mil (Royal Brinkman and AVAG). "We are a small country, but we are powerful because of the cooperation. The AVAG and GreenTech contribute to this,” says Annette Bos (RAI Amsterdam). 🌿 Pests and diseases resilient crops Breeders are making progress in creating plants that resist diseases and pests, which means they need fewer crop protecting chemicals. Hans Driessen from BASF’s Nunhems showed new tomatoes like Vitalion and Ronvine, which resist the tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV). Shuang Fan from Rijk Zwaan presented cucumbers that resist the cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV), including the Bonsagan RZ. They also highlighted advancements in vertical farming and automation, making it possible to grow crops locally all year, even in tough climates.
