🎉We are thrilled to announce that HyperImage successfully passed its first review meeting with the European Commission! 🌍🔬 The meeting was hosted at Wageningen University & Research, where project partners presented the achievements from the first year, discussed challenges, and outlined the next steps. A big highlight was visiting the university’s cutting-edge 🏡 greenhouse and facilities. ⚡ Adding to the excitement, Ross Stanley showcased the innovative Spot Thermal Emitter for Hyperspectral Imaging in a live demonstration. This remarkable device — as small as an LED, glowing at 2100K, yet cold enough to touch — left us all inspired by its potential! ✨We would like to extend a special thank you to our project officer Manuel Garcia Ochando and expert, Willem Hoving, for attending the meeting in person and supporting the project with valuable insights. 🌱 The momentum continued the following day with a productive consortium meeting focused on upcoming project milestones. We also had the pleasure of visiting Growy, the recipient of the #Vertical #Farming World Awards 2024 for Best Farm Design Innovation — a true inspiration for the future of farming! 💡 Vertical farming can offer many advantages. But how does it work? 🥬 By growing crops in layers above one another in buildings, we can achieve sustainable, efficient and fully-controlled cultivation. This method makes it possible to provide guarantees on the level and quality of production, every day of the year, and whatever the weather and climate 🌦️ Ultimately, this can mean no pesticide use, no nutrient emissions, just 2-4 litres of water per kilogram of vegetables, and a 10-20 times reduction in the amount of land required. 💪 Together with other leading institutions and business partners, such as AMS Institute and Growy, researchers at Wageningen University & Research are studying the possibilities and limitations (such as high energy costs) of vertical farming. 🗨️ Do you think vertical farming could bring about a revolution in the production of fresh vegetables?
