"Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank" JSCB SQB Green Banking team gave a seminar talk on #ESG and #SDGs in Uzbekistan Pavillion during COP29 Azerbaijan in Baku, Azerbaijan. We discussed key topics on the actual problems of implementing #ESGprinciples in Uzbekistan and developing countries of Central Asian region. In addition, Nodir Khudayberdiev with Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan pointed out "Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank" JSCB's effort in financing green projects, particularily financing buying electric buses for #TashkentCity. Anna Zavaleeva with HPBS noted the "Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank" JSCB's hard work towards #GreenBuilding agenda, and awarded the second #EDGECertificate for one of the Bank's branch offices. Also, it is my pleasure to share that "Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank" JSCB has initiated the institutional accreditation process with Green Climate Fund. We thank Ministry of Ecology's Aziz Abdukhakimov, Obid Kudratov, and Suna Abdullaeva-Park for their help in organizing the meeting with Green Climate Fund. "Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank" JSCB also thanks Green Climate Fund and Mafalda Duarte's team Kunduz Masylkanova, Marcus Mayr, Maksim Surkov and others for visiting SQB Head Office in Tashkent.

I'm delighted to share that I participated in the panel discussion on #SustainableFinance in Luxembroug pavillion organised by Global Green Growth Institute during COP29 Azerbaijan in Baku, Azerbaijan. Some topics within the panel included #GreenFunding, issuing #GreenBonds, #ClimateSmartAgriculture, technical support for developing countries, government's role in developing green finance, etc. #SustainableFinance is a critical instrument for industrial transformation towards green economy, and United Nations climate change conferences serve as an excellent platform for discussion and reaching #SDGs. Also, "Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank" JSCB SQB Green Banking team including Bahrom U. Kosimov and Anna Zavaleeva (HPBS) shared our experience on integrating #GreenFinance in Uzbekistan and Central Asian region. After panel discussion, we participated in individual negotiations with interested parties on implementing #SustainableFinance in emerging economies. Here are lessons we’ve learnd during the process: 1. Deep-Dive Building Audits: Successful certification starts with understanding the building’s current condition. This requires a meticulous audit of structures, engineering systems, and materials. Our team traveled across Uzbekistan—from Karakalpakstan to the Fergana Valley—to personally inspect 39 branches. Each visit provided invaluable insights, and we are incredibly grateful to SQB’s teams for their warm hospitality and collaboration. 2. Precision Through Measurement: Accurate data is the foundation of any successful certification. For older buildings, measurements of structures, window dimensions, and plumbing systems are critical. These details help us align the EDGE model with the building’s actual performance. 3. The Power of Energy Data: Energy consumption records are a game-changer. They not only streamline certification but also underscore the importance of installing meters and tracking energy use for operational efficiency. This practice pays off in certification and beyond. 4. Documenting Every Detail: From split systems to lighting fixtures, every energy-consuming device must be accounted for, including its capacity and efficiency. This thorough documentation ensures a precise calibration of the EDGE model and helps avoid discrepancies during the review process. 5. Expertise Matters: Certification is as much about knowledge as it is about execution. Our team of accredited EDGE experts brings a deep understanding of the Certification system, enabling us to adapt to each building’s unique situation. At the United Nations Climate Conference #COP29 in Baku, a ceremonial event was held to award "Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank" JSCB with a green building certificate for its second project in Tashkent. The EDGE certificate from IFC - International Finance Corporation was presented with the participation of Obidjon Nematovich Kudratov, the First Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan. #COP29 is gaining momentum. Every day, in the country pavilions and plenary sessions, a wealth of information is shared about the climate challenges faced by nations and the efforts of companies working on climate risk management. In my opinion, exchanging experiences on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and carbon regulation across different countries is crucial. Sharing business strategies for tackling these challenges, along with both positive and negative experiences, is essential for refining actions toward a sustainable future. I am delighted to meet new colleagues from Solarnature, the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan and GGGI Uzbekistan, who are actively involved in climate risk projects.
