As I prepare for the launch of our study report "Improving your programmatic learning journey" for the Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law I am reminded of the tons of lessons out of interviews with diverse organizations in the humanitarian, development and peace (HDP) sectors: 👉Many toolkits and resources on organizational learning, knowledge management and adaptive programming, yet little on the effects and barriers to knowledge that generates impact within the HDP nexus. 👉On the side of donors and agencies disbursing programmatic funds, emphasis on learning and how to use and manage knowledge are structured through toolkits, capacity-building resources, workshops and training spaces. 👉 For receiving organizations of programmatic funding, the gaps in practice around programmatic learning come from lack of time, money and personnel. This demands flexibility on the side of donors for a more practical approach to the giver-receiver relationship. 👉 Discussions about legacies of colonialism and other forms of power imbalances affect the narratives and dynamics around programmatic learning. This isn't just present in relations between the Global North and South but between Center and periphery, urban and rural, and global and local levels. Looking forward to the launch and to be able to share our report with colleagues in the practitioner, academic and policy-making spheres.
