First organic denim brand since 2001. Making sustainable denim and timeless wardrobe essentials, fairly made to last.

Over ons

Originated from astonishment 1998, Central Peru. The garment district is packed, damp and dusty. We see pollution and exploitation everywhere. Out in the open. We’re stunned; no one is trying to hide it. Harmful, synthetic, wasteful production. We got worked up. Why not go organic? It would mean the world. We confronted big fashion brands. None of them was interested, let alone committed. It wasn’t the hype. Yet. So we decided to show the world. Denim is destined to be organic. Kuyichi was born. Shift the growth We didn’t stop there and agreed on one thing; We’ll always act beyond the hype. Beyond obsolete fashion conventions: Fast is not better and sales promotions are like force-feeding. We should outgrow the idea that more is better, and grow character instead. We love to develop alternative sustainable fabrics. We love to reduce, reuse, recycle and repair. Sustainability shouldn’t be the next generation’s job. We see it as our mission. Now and in the future. Radical harmony We create meaningful pieces. Essentials made to last. Designs made with tenderness, love and care. We’re in pursuit of harmony. A radical harmony between quality, style and sustainability. And that’s how we leave the ephemeral behind us. Because let’s remember. We are nature. Committed pioneers And while some people may call us idealists, we rather think of ourselves as realists. Happy to be part of a bigger movement. We’ll always be there to learn, pioneer and challenge. We’re happy to see the industry making genuine progress. We confront hollow phrases and fast fashion washing itself green. It’s about living up to our mission, even when we struggle. But we overcome. And perseverance is fulfilling, when we see what we’ve achieved, and what exciting breakthroughs lie ahead of us. So join us on our journey and infuse us with your ideas. Unfashion the Industry Kuyichi Pure Goods

Given Black Friday and Cyber Monday’s drive to get people to overconsume and deprioritise people, the planet, and animals, we wanted to celebrate brands offering more sustainable approaches to this time of year. These efforts by “Good” and “Great” brands represent new ways forward ⬇️ 💡 For every sale made, sneaker brand CARIUMA (”Good”) committed to planting 10 trees. 💡 Dedicated Brand (”Great”) partnered with @One Tree Planted to plant a fruit tree for every order placed. 💡 Shoemaker Flamingos' Life (”Good”) completely closed its online store for Black Friday. 💡 All of Kotn’s (”Good”) sales went toward building schools in rural Egypt, where the brand’s cotton is grown. 💡 Kuyichi Pure Goods (“Good”) is donating 20% of its turnover to the @HERO Circle, which works to fight greenwashing. 💡 O My Bag Amsterdam (“Good”) will donate 3% of its sales to India’s Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre’s Empowering Cycles Program, which supports the menstrual health of women factory workers. 💡 PANGAIA (”Good”) is encouraging web shoppers to make a donation of £10 in exchange for 30% off their purchase. 💡 Tripulse (”Great”) shared a guide of “practical advice and tips on how to build a conscious wardrobe for everyday wear and activewear.” Efforts like this represent what holiday “sales” should be. They’re exciting alternatives that we hope will continue, to meet conscious consumers where they are while pushing the industry to innovate further: learn more about them here → https://lnkd.in/e8DAQrgk As we navigate a month of sales and shopping, make sure to prioritise brands working more sustainably 💚 If you’re a brand or business in need of help navigating your impact, get in touch as we can connect you with tools to achieve your goals → https://lnkd.in/e6gfWHkq

  • Transparency has always been part of our DNA. Every year, we release a new Social Report and a Sustainability Report to show the world behind your clothing. By publicly reporting on our practices, we take responsibility for what is happening in our supply chain. It shows we are accountable for our values, goals, and commitments. Besides, only an informed consumer can make a conscious choice. We hope this report will teach you a thing or two about sustainable fashion along the way. This report explores how we’re working towards a more sustainable future with the results, goals, and insights from 2023. "This report provides insight into our progress, our challenges, and our dedication to continuous improvement. We know the journey is long, but we're committed to every step." - Peter Schuitema, CEO Kuyichi Find out more about what we do: https://lnkd.in/esAtcgvb

Watch our full video (link in comments) with Fair Wear's Regional Coordinator Türkiye Terezia Haselhoff and Kuyichi Pure Goods’ CSR Manager Zoé Daemen on our research into gender equity and living wages in the Turkish garment industry.   In 2022, Fair Wear carried out a research project to identify the root causes of #humanrights risks related to #livingwages and #genderequality, with a focus on violence and harassment in garment factories. The research was done in partnership with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Dr Çağla Ünlütürk, Dr Serkan Öngel and Dr Jane Pillinger; and three Fair Wear Foundation member brands.   As explained in the video, a brand’s purchasing practices can play a significant role in ensuring workers are paid a living wage. The same also goes for reducing gender-based violence and harassment in garment supply chains. These practices include: - Having thorough knowledge of your supplier’s production capacity; - Sharing production planning with your suppliers in a timely manner;  - Ensuring timely approval for any bulk production; and, - Checking whether the factory’s production targets are realistic in order to address work pressure and prevent excessive overtime work and working under pressure. Now that we’ve delved into the root causes of the human rights risks related to gender equity and living wage, our partner brands are working out concrete actions for preventing and mitigating these risks. We’ll then be delivering these best practices to the wider industry – so watch this space for what’s yet to come!   For more information on the project, visit our website: https://lnkd.in/ejp2MTVz.

  • Today, on #InternationalWomensDay, we're bringing attention to the gender-based violence and harassment happening in Turkish garment factories. Together with Fair Wear Foundation and two other brands, we conducted research on violence & harassment and living wages in the Turkish garment supply chain. The aim is to create innovative solutions based on the insights on #livingwages, #genderequality, and workplace violence prevention that the research has provided us. We want to empower women and improve gender equality in our supply chain. We'll share more about this project in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. #comingsoon #womensday

Today, on #InternationalWomensDay, we’re spotlighting our research on the gender-based violence and harassment that takes place in garment factories in Türkiye. Gender inequality and gender-based violence and harassment are significant issues in Türkiye’s garment sector - reflective of the garment industry as a whole. Women #garmentworkers tend to be employed in positions that are underpaid, lower status, temporary, precarious and considered unskilled. Moreover, with only 8% of women workers unionised, there are few avenues for them to push for change. The few studies on gender-based violence and harassment show that it is still a prevalent yet clandestine issue, with there being no official data available in the country. That’s why in 2022, Fair Wear carried out a research project to identify the root causes of #humanrights risks related to #livingwages and #genderequality, with a focus on violence and harassment in garment factories. The research was done in partnership with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Dr Çağla Ünlütürk, Dr Serkan Önge and Dr Jane Pillinger; and three Fair Wear member brands. The research findings provide detailed evidence of long working hours, low wages, deep poverty, gender inequality and the existence of violence and harassment in the workplace. Gender equity is a key component to realising Fair Wear's mission to the garment sector becoming a source of safe, dignified and decent paid employment. That's why we guide our member brands with their human rights due diligence, ensuring that each step is fully gender-responsive. On #IWD, we hear Fair Wear's Regional Coordinator Türkiye Terezia Haselhoff and Kuyichi Pure Goods’ CSR Manager Zoé Daemen explain the importance of a project such as this. With this project in #Türkiye, our partner brands will work to define best practices for addressing violence and harassment and gender equity in garment supply chains. Watch this space for more information on the findings of the project #comingsoon.
