Once again, FREITAG says no to Black Friday and the mass consumption that comes with it. Therefore, we will close all our physical checkouts and the Online Store on that day. Instead, anyone with a pre-loved FREITAG bag can swap it with someone else's. Either on the digital platform S.W.A.P. 365 days a year. Or in person at an event on Black Friday, held at selected FREITAG Stores from Zurich to Tokyo. Sounds good? Sign up for an event here: https://lnkd.in/e39UsE29 #frtg #noblackfriday #dontshopjustswap
FREITAG
Einzelhandel: Bekleidung und Mode
We believe in the next life of things. That's why we think and act in cycles. And cycle.
Info
We think and act in cycles.

The FREITAG Impact Report provides a close look at how strategy, projects, and daily actions align with the company's purpose: «Intelligent design for a circular future». The report's first chapter focuses on the FREITAG crew – a dedicated team where each member's unique strengths are valued. At FREITAG, six core principles define our Culture Code, promoting trust, openness, and constructive feedback. This shared understanding strengthens our commitment to circularity, one step at a time. FREITAG x SHIBUYA PARCO POP-UP Hello Tokyo! The FREITAG YOURSELF pop-up workshop at the main entrance of Shibuya PARCO is open. For 10 days, step inside two re-used sea freight containers and unleash your creativity by designing your very own one-off bag from pre-cut, used truck tarps. Choose one of the three models and select your favorite bag body, handles, and an additional pouch to create your bag. No time? There are pre-made options, too. #frtg #freitagyourself #popup #parcoshibuya #freitagbags #customization #oneofakind

Thinking and acting in cycles is part of the FREITAG DNA. Shifting from a linear, throwaway society to a circular economy, where resources are preserved rather than wasted, remains a top priority. Now, the FREITAG Impact Report has been published for the third time. The report of 2023 is structured around the five pillars of our Circularity Roadmap. Each of these strategic directions includes a formulated circular ambition together with long-term goals and performance indicators through 2030 that are used to measure and evaluate the progress. The report encourages dialogue and collaboration, inviting us all to contribute to a better, more circular world. Thank you for taking the time to read, reflect, and discuss it with us. https://lnkd.in/dUPxWvsB #frtg #circularityroadmap #circularfuture #circulareconomy #impactreport

Vinyl is still alive – once thought obsolete, the records keep spinning on turntables around the world. And FREITAG is celebrating this with a re-edition of the DJ messenger bag F21 NIGHTCLUB. For this special occasion, the iconic Flagship Store next to Zurich Hardbrücke was transformed into a club for one night only. This building, made of 19 used containers, is as raw and upcycled as the bags. Missed the moment? No worries. Here are some impressions from the night. And if in need of this classic, square DJ bag made from used truck tarps, this way: https://lnkd.in/eQjVwHzC #frtg #blastfromthepast #party #nightclub #falgshipstore #zurich #djbag

As FREITAG pioneers circular truck tarps, one key challenge is determining which material combinations will be both high-quality and marketable in the long run. A crucial part of this process is proving the recyclability of these tarps, which is where transparency comes in. To address this, FREITAG, in collaboration with Bieri Tenta AG, has implemented a Digital Product Passport (DPP) for truck tarps – a comprehensive data protocol that ensures full visibility across the value chain. This digital system tracks essential information like material composition, production details, and even recycling pathways, ensuring that the lifecycle of every tarpaulin is traceable and circular. Combining digital and physical transparency through RFID chips and QR codes sets the foundation for an efficient reverse logistics system, allowing end-of-life tarpaulins to be transformed into new FREITAG bags again. FREITAG and its partners have been researching various material combinations since 2021 as part of the mission to create fully recyclable truck tarps. Now, two promising solutions are being tested on the street. One material stream is PES/TPU, a durable combination developed with Heytex Group and Covestro. It features a polyester (PES) fabric coated with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). This material has been thoroughly assessed by EPEA GmbH – Part of Drees & Sommer, based on the stringent Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard for material safety, human health, and environmental impact. TPU also meets ISO standards for side curtains on 40-ton trucks. Bieri Tenta AG, which is responsible for printing using the stencil printing process, welding, and assembling the tarpaulins, used its extensive network of suppliers for the test fleet and produced the necessary accessories itself, as there are no PES/TPU-compatible accessories. The long drying time of the paint also posed a major challenge. Also, there is a collaboration with DePoly to evaluate recycling processes. The other material stream is PP/PP, a mono-material solution developed with Rivertex Technical Fabrics, where the fabric and coating are made of polypropylene (PP). Known as «Rivercyclon», this approach is cost-effective, easily recyclable, and now successfully printable. While these two solutions are leading the way, other emerging material developments are also present, but they’re still in the early stages. Ultimately, the success of this project will depend on both the technical quality and market viability of the materials. The goal is to establish a sustainable network that keeps products in circulation with the best possible quality. The journey continues. More information can be found here: https://lnkd.in/ejHwFq7w

A little less than two weeks ago, something happened in Sydney. Well, a lot of things happened, but since all of those wouldn't fit in a LinkedIn post, let's focus on something that took place in the Surrey Hills area. In the midst of all the art galleries, cafes and boutiques that the neighborhood is known for, there now is a new FREITAG Store, operated by our partner Keoma. Conceptualized in a historic two-floor terrace house by the FREITAG in-house team, the retail space features resource-saving functionality, timeless design, and modular, durable furniture systems. The recently launched Mono[PA6] Backpack is the first circular FREITAG bag. It is made from a single material and can be recycled as a whole at the end of its life and turned into new items. To illustrate the project's complexity, the backpack's development process, and the tested recycling concept, the short movie «The road to a circular backpack» was created. In around four minutes, it tells the entire story of the latest innovation, from the idea and material development to the involvement of our customers. Sounds good?
