We helped create two world-record-breaking crowdfunding campaigns in 2013 and 2018 – and continue to work on the brand and platform to this day. Our team embraces our 'design philosophy of cultivating calm,' embedding calm into all our designs to ensure content takes center stage and engages deeply with audiences. Momkai introduced this design philosophy at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 2016. Founded in 2002 by Harald Dunnink, Momkai continues to be at the forefront of innovative, entrepreneurial, and impactful design.

  • ‘Essentieel’ Arie Boomsma. ‘Super handzaam’ Jacqueline van den Ende (Carbon Equity). ‘Inspirerend’ Pieter Zwart (Coolblue).

  • Awareness is overrated. That’s one of the strategic principles we set out for The School for Moral Ambition. It’s beyond exciting to see one of the School’s European fellows, Joachim Verheyen, already making waves in the Moldovan government by taking a stand against the tobacco industry — and he's just getting started. Discover the other strategic principles guiding every action at The School for Moral Ambition: https://lnkd.in/eWw4CJfc

Two months ago he had a comfortable, well-paid job in Antwerp. Now, Joachim Verheyen is facing off with Big Tobacco lawyers in the Moldovan parliament. “It’s like inviting mosquitos to discuss malaria”, Joachim told those present, of which a number were lawyers and representatives of the tobacco industry. Joachim was invited to testify in a public hearing about Moldova’s revised tobacco laws. A huge opportunity to make an impact in public health! The amendment would prohibit smoking in children’s playgrounds, sports fields, and amusement parks, among others. Crucially, the bill also includes the use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco devices, which are rapidly gaining popularity in Moldova (as in many other countries). All in all, there’s a lot at stake, as Moldova’s smoking numbers have been trending in the wrong direction due to Big Tobacco’s presence in the country. Shockingly, the tobacco industry was even present at the public hearing Joachim attended, even though both World Health Organization (WHO) directives and Moldovan law explicitly forbid contact between the tobacco industry and politicians or politics. Want to know more about what happened at the hearing or how Joachim ended up in Moldova? In the comments you’ll find links to: 📣 Joachim’s full speech on YouTube ✍️ Our profile about Joachim and the full situation in Moldova 💡 An explanatory video by ENSP - European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention on the Moldovan Tobacco Law reforms and the tense stand-off in the public hearing Get started with the links below now!

  • Memberful design starts with team members rising to the top — helping firestarters spot what’s on the horizon. Over a two-day offsite at the stunning De Waterkroon | Unieke groepsaccommodatie, Team Momkai connected and reflected on the lessons that brought us here. Guided by Spencer Heijnen - lead facilitator at The School for Moral Ambition - who balanced calm clarity with bursts of energy, new heights were explored. Like a sherpa, Spencer helped us navigate big ideas, foster trust and inspiration, and delivered a well-timed kick to our butts to keep us moving forward. With fresh insights into how branding and design can help spread the message and empower us to build movements in Amsterdam, Berlin, and New York. With a renewed sense of purpose and a clear path forward, we are ready to amplify what we do best for the communities we serve. #memberfuldesign #moralambition #brandingthatbuildsmovements #madewithmomkai

Over the past several months, we’ve partnered with Alkmaar-based SCW Systems on a branding and identity project, which was recently featured on national news. SCW Systems applies Dutch engineering to the world’s most pressing problem and has developed a cutting-edge array of climate solutions. We can’t wait to tell you more about it in the months to come, and celebrate when the entire rebrand is live. Congrats to Gerard Essing, Wout de Groot, Stephanie Jasmin Hulshoff and the whole SCW Systems team for this well-deserved spotlight!

Co-founder The School for Moral Ambition and De Correspondent, founder & CEO Momkai

For all who support the Moral Ambition movement, the book can now be pre-ordered in English! Even better, all royalties go directly to the nonprofit, The School for Moral Ambition. We’re excited to reveal the US cover for my cofounder Rutger Bregman’s upcoming book, set to release in spring 2025. The UK edition launches April 21 with Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, followed by the US release on May 6 with Little, Brown and Company. Designed by Martijn van Dam and yours truly at the Momkai studio, the cover reflects our vision to put your ideals to work. In Moral Ambition, Rutger argues that a career consists of around 2,000 workweeks, making how we spend that time one of life’s most crucial choices. Yet millions find themselves in work that feels mind-numbing or even harmful. There’s an antidote to this waste of talent, and it’s called moral ambition. The cover captures this vision through two powerful symbols: ambition, often visualized as a climb to the summit, is represented in the mountain’s ascent; morality, symbolized by the compass, forms the white snow at the peak—a moral compass guiding us upward. Together, they illustrate the journey of moral ambition: the pursuit of greatness, driven by purpose and impact. The mountain on the cover is never alone; it’s part of a whole chain of peaks. This represents that once we reach the summit of solving one major problem, we look around to find new mountains—new challenges—waiting to be conquered. Moral ambition isn’t a single achievement; it’s a continuous journey toward making a lasting impact. Pre-order now 📚 https://lnkd.in/eWX7Xksx Join a growing movement of pioneers who are already living out this ethos. They’re the builders, the problem-solvers, the doers who have chosen a path less traveled. A guidebook to finding that path for ourselves, Moral Ambition reminds us that the real measure of success lies not in what we accumulate, but in what we contribute, and shows how we, too, can build a legacy that truly matters. Let’s bring this message forward. Help us spread the word, inspire others, and put your ideals to work. #moralambition #putyouridealstowork

  • Make sure to grab a fresh copy of the just-released book by Sander Schimmelpenninck, called De Domheid Regeert, or ‘Stupidity Rules’. With a cover designed by your very own Momkai team, this revelatory publication explores how the right-wing is deliberately using stupidity as a political weapon. For the cover, our lead designer Martijn van Dam captured the concept with an illustration of a sinister megaphone shouting directly into a microphone. This iconic imagery highlights the vicious cycle of attention that plays out between the far right and the media. With orange details to nod to Dutch character plus an attention-grabbing red background, readers will instantly understand that this book is a spotlight on an important and under-reported topic.
