Participants Started “Training Mushroom Growing” ! 🍄🟫 After a successful first year, the “Training Mushroom Growing” started again this year with 14 enthusiastic students. 👏 The second year started with a fascinating visit to compost company CNC, where we were welcomed hospitably. As a grower, it is essential to understand how compost is made! The “Training Mushroom Growing” offers a combination of e-learning and live meetings. The students take the online modules prior to each meeting, so they already have a solid foundation of cultivation. 💡 During the live sessions, the topics are covered in more depth and there is room to ask questions. After covering all 7 modules, there is a final exam, which is taken both online and orally on the farm. Repetition is an essential part of the learning process, which is why important topics are discussed several times during the course. 🎓 The “Training Mushroom Growing” is, organized in cooperation with the Dutch Mushroom Association (LTO Paddestoelen Nederland). #mushroomoffice #mushroom #mushroomgrowing #mushroomcourse #elearning

Pre-wetting straw 💧 Opening up the straw is a crucial process during composting. If the straw is not treated properly and remains hard, both water and mycelium cannot penetrate the compost effectively. This leads to rapid opening and bad quality mushrooms. 🍄🟫 The process of pre-wetting includes wetting the straw, as well as managing oxygen and temperature to allow the thermophilic micro live to do their job. However, if the temperature rises above 70°C too quickly, the bacteria die, or the temperature may drop again after a few days. 📉 A possible solution could be to wet the straw twice. Want to learn more about pre-wetting straw and other pre-compost processes? Then follow the e-learning ‘Pre-mix and Pre-wet’! https://lnkd.in/evwbwzs3

While compost contains all the nutrients mushrooms need 🍄🟫, casing soil does not. However, this does not mean casing soil is unimportant. One of the most crucial functions of casing soil is as a water buffer. 💧 Casing soil must retain water and transport it from the compost to the mushrooms. The handling of casing soil during filling is therefore very critical. If casing soil is over-pressed, for example by an excessive amount for leveling ash, it loses its ability to retain water. The reasons for this and many other important aspects are covered in detail in our e-learning module ‘Casing soil and filling the room’. 🎓 Check our website for more information about the webinar 👉 https://lnkd.in/ea9hXegG
