Last Friday was '𝗘𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 Day' at Nearfield.   In the morning, we had the honor of welcoming Michiel Scheffer to our headquarters in Rotterdam. His visit was a follow-up to our selection as a recipient of EIC Accelerator funding. Mr. Scheffer, President of the Board of the European Innovation Council, gained a deeper insight into Nearfield’s pivotal role as Metrology & Inspection company in the semiconductor industry. There was a lively and constructive discussion with Hamed Sadeghian, Roland van Vliet and Mark Lamers RC about the future of innovation in Europe and the role of companies like ours. We thank Mr. Scheffer for his time and attention and the way he promotes deep technological innovation.   In the afternoon, we participated in a gathering with the other Dutch beneficiaries of the EIC Accelerator, organized by Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO). We are part of a global group of 68 companies selected to receive funding, out of a total of 969 companies that submitted a proposal. Congratulations to all the other companies on passing the highly competitive selection process. It was a pleasure to make your acquaintance. We are honoured to have been selected as one of the final top-3 contenders for the 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱, together with Mews (winner of the award) and ASML: “Tech Heroes are the exponents of a new economic and social reality. They are the companies that, under the motto ‘adopt or die’, have managed to create significant value in an increasingly erratic market dynamic. In fact, they are the companies that have helped drive digital progress.”   Ahura Qavami Tehrani represented Nearfield during the comprehensive selection process consisting of multiple rounds including a Digital Maturity Survey, TV Recording, CEO validation and a jury meeting. We would not have been nominated without the commitment of all our colleagues at Nearfield, but especially his efforts and preparations, along with the final pitch by our CEO Hamed Sadeghian at CIODAY2024, made us proud to be a participant. One of the topics we as an organization consider very important is diversity and inclusivity. During the panel discussion between Helen Tubb (she/her), Madelein Smit and Hamed, we discussed the ingredients for a DEI environment as a prerequisite for future leadership.   We would like to congratulate Mews as winner of the Tech Hero Award! We also congratulate Ing Yan Ong for winning the award for 𝗖𝗜𝗢 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿. We look back on #CIODAY2024 as a day full of inspiration, good conversations, and new insights. On Monday, our CFO Mark Lamers RC attended the launch of the Tech Champions Manifesto at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Together with the 9 other Tech Champions and in the presence of many guests, the Tech Champions presented the manifesto to Minister of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands Dirk Beljaarts. We highly appreciate the Minister’s commitment to jointly take action to support highly innovative Companies in the Netherlands, by concretely improving the cooperation with the Government. We are convinced that the 3 focus areas mentioned in the manifesto for success of start-ups/scale-ups in leading technologies are critical to further improve the business climate for highly innovative companies in the Netherlands: 1) Consistent Long-Term Policy, 2) Speed in Governmental processes and 3) Joint Risk Taking. We look forward to continuing the conversation with all stakeholders and working together to ensure that we take steps toward a sustainable innovation climate in the Netherlands. In particular, we would like to thank Techleap for its continued support of the Tech Champions. The Tech Champions are 10 CEOs/founders of leading Dutch scale ups that reflect the 10 key technologies of the National Technology Strategy (NTS) that are essential for the future Dutch economy. Advances in chiplet era will affect both front-end and back-end processes, providing systems with increased precision and efficiency. Understanding what’s driving the yield and seeking correlation is a pressing need of semiconductor fabs. Innovation in metrology and inspection, with angstrom resolution, and at the same time high throughput is key to understand the yield and maintaining it. QUADRA with its high resolution and direct measurement capability, equipped with Lightning mode to minimize the gap with throughput of optical techniques, will solve a crucial part of metrology demands in chiplet era.
