Het is niet chic om over geld te praten, ik weet het, maar gisteren werd ik gewezen op een vrij deprimerend rekensommetje vanuit het perspectief van een schrijver vis-a-vis de voorgenomen 21% BTW verhoging per 2026 op o.a. boeken, en wilde deze toch met jullie delen. Ik ga daarbij uit van een boek met een verkoopprijs van € 25,- . Ex 21% btw is dat dus 20,66. Als schrijver verdien je over de eerste 4000 exemplaren die worden verkocht 10% per exemplaar. (Later loopt dat percentage staffelsgewijs op naar 17,5 % vanaf 50.000 verkochte exemplaren. Dat laatste is overigens meer uitzondering dan regel, dus voor het rekengemak blijf ik even bij dat beginpercentage.) Je verdient dus € 2,07 per boek. Over die € 2,07 moet je ook nog inkomstenbelasting betalen. Stel dat je in de laagste schijf valt, dan wordt daar dus 36,97 % over geheven, dan blijft er netto € 1,31 per boek over. En wat “verdient” onze regering vanaf 2026 op elk van mijn boeken die voor € 25,- verkocht worden? Aan BTW int de overheid € 4,34. Via "mijn" inkomstenbelasting komt daar nog € 0,77 bij. Dus vanaf 2026 verdien ik per boek als schrijver netto € 1,31 en de overheid die niks anders doet dan lezen en boekverkoop ontmoedigen, graait € 5,10. Bijna 4x zoveel dus. Ik weet dat je niet literaire fictie moet gaan schrijven voor het geld (en dat doe ik ook niet) maar dit is wel heel scheef. Wie dit ook vreemd, ontmoedigend dan wel misschien onrechtvaardig vindt, of het gewoon belangrijk vindt dat boeken geschreven en gelezen worden, teken vooral de petitie. https://lnkd.in/eH6Yuzsq

What a year it was, angel investors turning out exactly to be what it says, angels, thanks! We realized our first and diverse sales contracts in Europe and Asia. Our "selective fertilizer" concept was launched at ABIM, met with understandable questions on the mechanisms that cause both the inhibiting AND nourishing effects of cell-free nucleic acids. Before that the Kuala Lumpur Noself seminar cemented our position in Malaysia and Indonesia, with further product co-development processes on the way. Our first registered products made Italian farmers happy, now the roll out to EU27 is well under way. We had many talks with VC's, but the mechanisms of that industry do not really align with our development view: We don't want to sell the company, ever, to deliver investors "exits" in that way. A second patent was approved, on the strong inhibition effect by secreted DNA. A third patent is pending. We are now operating both in plant-agriculture as well as in livestock.
