Oikocredit is celebrating 30 years of creating social impact in Kenya! 👏 With €225.7 million (KES 30 billion) invested in Africa, they've been supporting smallholder farmers, entrepreneurs, and underserved households. From agriculture to renewable energy and financial inclusion, their work has been all about empowering communities. At a special event in Nairobi, #Oikocredit brought together partners and stakeholders to celebrate the journey and plan what’s next. Caroline Kamau-Mulwa, their Regional Director for Africa, put it perfectly: “Together, we’ve improved livelihoods and supported sustainable development across Africa.” And Dave Smit, Director of Impact Investments, reminded us of the incredible untapped potential Africa holds: “Every euro invested here creates more impact than anywhere else in the world.” This is what happens when partnerships and purpose come together. Here’s to even more impact in the years ahead! 👏 #SocialImpact #FinancialInclusion #SustainableDevelopment #AfricaInvestments #Oikocredit

🆕 Over 15 years ago, the #cooperative shareholders of Grupo Financiero Banrural invited Oikocredit to be part of the development of #rural finance in #Guatemala by investing in the bank. Now we’ve sold our equity investment, after helping Banrural become a key enabler of #financialinclusion across Guatemalan society. With more than 3.5 million clients and 5 million savings accounts, Banrural serves rural #communities, #Indigenous peoples, cooperatives and #women’s organisations. Oikocredit celebrating 30 year presence in Kenya! It was wonderful more than 80 attendees could free their busy schedules to join our breakfast program. It was a challenge for the photographer to capture all of us in the same picture! After warm welcome words from Robert Kagiri Wanjohi, sharing the history of Oikocredit, and Caroline Kamau-Mulwa giving her personal reflections as Oikocredit Regional Director Africa and thanking all the partners -of which many date back to the very early days- for their trust and confidence, Curtis Musembi professionally moderated a high quality roundtable with @Lukiana Makunda from FSD Kenya, Gideon Rotich, Nathan Kyalo, Pally Jim Muchiri Muthathai and george kitili. It was good to learn their valuable insights and forward looking perspective on challenges and opportunities for impact investments. And Dr. Peter Munga stood up and inspired all present to run the extra mile and create value for the people of Africa. Geoffrey M. closed the program concluding Oikocredit is just getting started, we need to Aim Higher for Africa and that deepening and broadening partnerships is the only we can together realize more impact in a financially sustainable manner. I am sincerely proud of the team, our partners and our impact... just 30 years young, just getting started! Looking forward to the next 30 years of impact with our partners, you!
