A Journey through the World of Resilient Agriculture

Over ons

Resilience Food Stories is a storytelling platform by photographer Ruud Sies and creative producer Hanneke van Hintum in partnership with Koppert. A Journey through the World of Resilient Agriculture. Traveling from region to region in search of stories from and about farmers and growers with inspiring and hopeful stories. Resilience Food Stories shares with you the astonishment and admiration of the creators concerning the developments and possibilities of sustainable agriculture and horticulture. It shows that only sustainable agriculture and horticulture that make use of natural principles can make food production worldwide healthier, safer, more productive and more resilient. The complex worldwide subject of food production becomes a matter of real people and their exciting and hopeful stories, which are extraordinary, inspiring, instructive, moving, funny and auspicious. Photographer Ruud Sies and creative producer Hanneke van Hintum practice long-term documentary projects. • “Sustainability runs in our veins. We believe it’s our responsibility to constantly improve our impact on this earth in terms of carbon footprint, pollution and biodiversity.” Amy Stammers, is head of sustainability, one of the twenty “quiet rebels” who run the B Corp certified, Nc’nean distillery. An organic single malt that makes a great impression with the smallest of footprints. Part of the story Water, yeast and barley. Organic Whisky Scotland  The full story is to be found on the website https://lnkd.in/g_5fc57. Here is the direct link; https://lnkd.in/eBDgvhdk

  • Organic Single Malt When our navigation indicates that we have only three kilometres to go, we stop to take a photograph, an image that our romantic ideas suggest would be appropriate for the label of a single malt. But arriving at The Nc’nean distillery, we see that it has nothing at all in common with the image we have of it. You'll find the story at the website https://lnkd.in/g_5fc57 We will continue our journey and keep you posted.

  • Jeroen and Mellany Klompe have been in the forefront of regenerative farming for more than ten years. Mellany has a background in environmental science and with a strong sense of stewardship, they are working on the future of the family farm.  With the Soil Heroes Foundation, the Klompe Farm carries out trials and then implements a wide range of experimental regenerative practices, which generate data on the effects of regenerative practices.  These stories are part of the long-term photo documentary Resilience Food Stories by photographer Ruud Sies and Hanneke van Hintum (creative producer) Direct link https://lnkd.in/d83HYAX6 #natureinclusivefarming Soil Heroes Foundation

  • On a sunny autumn afternoon in September we drive up to the buildings of a farm called Oemsteen, run by the Klompe family. At first sight it’s a typical Dutch arable farm in the Hoeksche Waard. It’s large by Dutch standards, at 360 hectares, growing potatoes, red onions, shallots, grain, carrots, brown beans and soja beans. • During our journey in the UK, we meet Patrick Holden at the Holden Farm Dairy, in Bwlchwernen, Wales, where we film Patrick’s story in the big converted barn that serves as a space for workshops and meetings, and in this case as a lecture theatre with us as the only audience, because his story is best described as a lecture about sustainable agriculture. We are grateful to Patrick for sharing his story and are happy to share it with you. During our journey in Araku Valley, visiting the coffee farmers and their families, spending time together, and being welcomed in their villages and houses, we learned so much from them when it comes to living in the villages, got inspired by how high-quality coffee grows in a food forest, where amazed on the hard work that comes with it and where impressed on how a community flourishes in working together restoring the landscape and improve their income.  Every day around five we would enjoy Godhuli; when the cows come home We will continue our journey and keep you posted. • At the end of the day, we had an inspiring meeting with Rohini Mukherjee, Vice President at Naandi Foundation. Energetic and inspired by the meetings with the coffee- farmers in the Araku Valley that day, she sat down in the mango orchard and shared her story on film. “Smallholder farmers in India are a large number”. The film is part of the story ‘Bringing Back the Forest’. • Before we start our journey through the Araku Valley, we meet David Hogg, Regenerative Agriculture Advisor of the Naandi Foundation David came to India as a twenty-year-old and chose to stay. He developed himself into an expert and consultant in regenerative agriculture and joined Naandi in 2009. Part of the story Bringing back the forest. The full story is to be found on the website https://lnkd.in/g_5fc57 Thanks David Hogg for sharing

  • Our story about the ‘Urban farmers’ around the most densely populated cities in India begins with a meeting with Vikash Abraham in the fertility centre and demo farm some ten kilometres outside the centre of New Delhi.  He is convinced that soil fertility, the environment, farmers, and consumers must be in a symbiotic relationship. That alone can lead to a farming model that is profitable, scalable, and focused on the health of human beings, plants, soil, and the planet.
