Last week, on the 11th November, SolarDuck had the absolute pleasure of hosting the DEI+ Merganser, project consortium meeting. This was at SolarDuck head offices in Rotterdam. In attendance were the project’s partners: TNO, Delft University of Technology Offshore & ME, Deltares and MARIN (Maritime Research Institute Netherlands). We would like to thank everyone who attended for their contributions and very high level of professionalism. We look forward to the next meeting! We had the honor to host members of the World Economic Forum’s #1000OceanStartups initiative on our offshore floating solar platform, King Eider. This visit marks an exciting milestone in our journey to bring sustainable, clean energy solutions to offshore environments. During the visit, we showcased the innovative design and advanced technology behind King Eider, highlighting how offshore solar platforms can play a pivotal role in the clean energy transition. The platform’s ability to harness solar power on water represents a breakthrough in expanding renewable energy capabilities to places where traditional solar installations aren’t feasible. A huge thank you to the World Economic Forum members for their time, insights, and commitment to ocean health and sustainability. SolarDuck welcomes Yoshiaki Hirohashi, our new Senior Business Developer for APAC based in #Tokyo, #Japan. “149 countries reportedly bordering the sea, I believe the market for #offshorefloatingsolar is very large. I am so excited to be a member of the SolarDuck family and to reinforce my commitment to sustainable energy solutions,” says Yoshiaki. He worked for Siemens, GE, Westinghouse Electric Corporation and other multinational companies in the infrastructure market both domestically and internationally. He then pivoted towards development of renewable energy projects, where he has been involved in the development of large-scale offshore wind and biomass power generation.　 Welcome onboard, Yoshiaki! #talent #renewableenergy #cleantech

Although SolarDuck ‘only’ has been in existence for just over 4 years, we are proud to be playing a role in the forefront of a new industry. Offshore Floating Solar has a big potential, but the development Offshore Floating Solar technology is by no means an easy feat. At SolarDuck we take a collaborative approach aimed at sharing insights, maximizing learning and expanding the relevance of the technology. A valued early partner is Norsk Hydro with whom SolarDuck is collaborating to improve the use of aluminium in its products. The Solarplaza International PV (FPV) Summit in Paris last week was a great opportunity to meet up with the sector leaders and share the latest developments and learnings. It was particularly encouraging to see such high level of engagement with Offshore Floating PV. Arnaud Ayral, our Head of BD EMEA, presented some of SolarDuck’s latest developments, as well as learnings and insights on how to leverage the opportunity for hybrid solar/wind offshore renewable energy parks. SolarDuck is happy to announce that the Teal #OFPV demonstration plant in Tokyo Bay passed its first severe weather test with flying colors! Typhoon Ampil grazed #Tokyo on Friday, August 16th and brought with it high wind speeds and heavy rain.    This is proof of the robustness of our technology in harsh weather conditions. Showing that SolarDuck's design is able to cope with typhoons is an important proof point for #Japan and the wider #APAC region which regularly experience such weather events. We look forward to the continued cooperation with our partner Tokyu Land Corporation.
