As the year comes to a close, the Period Positive Workplace movement has achieved remarkable milestones in 2024. A total of 223 organizations across 43 countries are now PPW-certified, positively impacting nearly 230,000 employees globally with PPW policies. Recently, the initiative expanded its network by welcoming three new Coalition Partners: Ruby Cup, a UK-based menstrual cup company; Korento ry, a Finnish advocacy group for gynecological disorders; and Natracare, a British distributor specializing in feminine hygiene, nutrition, and natural wellness. Refinery29 recently spotlighted leaders from Days for Girls International and the PPW Coalition in an article published on their menstruation-focused channel, My Period. Titled "It's 2024—Why Isn't Every Workplace a Period-Positive One?", the piece highlights the significance of offering period products in workplaces. This straightforward initiative is framed as a vital step toward advancing menstrual equity and promoting gender equality in professional environments. Last week, Population Services International had the privilege of hosting the Life Sciences and Health Trade Mission from the Netherlands at our Digital Innovation Hub in Nairobi. The delegation, comprising public and private sector leaders, spent four days exploring partnerships with local actors to advance digitization in health. At the visit, we were joined by representatives from the Ministry of Health, Kenya, IntelliSoft, Ilara Health, Jacaranda Health, and Viya Health Kenya, further illustrating the transformative digital initiatives happening through collaborations across Kenya. The visit sparked new avenues for collaboration, which we look forward to exploring further through PSI Kenya and Stichting PSI Europe as a member of the Global Health Hub Netherlands. A special thanks to Task Force Health Care (TFHC), Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kenya, and Geoffrey Korir for this opportunity. Together, we can build connections that continue to drive meaningful progress in digital health.

A great article by Diana Thompson Nelson (Days for Girls International), Arundati Muralidharan (Global Menstrual Collective, Menstrual Health Action for Impact (MHAi)), and Sarah Webb (Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition) The private sector is often viewed as product manufacturers or donors in the #menstrualhealth community. However, their contributions are diverse and essential to driving impact. Here are some highlights of how the private sector plays a crucial role in Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH): 💡 Innovators: Leading the way in developing a wide range of menstrual products, from single-use to reusable, and driving research in menstrual health solutions. 💰 Funders: Catalyzing support through investments, CSR, and venture capital, enabling programs, innovations, and research to thrive. 🏢 Employers: Supporting female employees by creating menstrual-friendly workplace policies, ensuring access to products, and improving health outcomes, ultimately benefiting businesses. To make meaningful progress, cross-sector collaboration is vital to ensure user-centered solutions, expand equitable access, and address menstrual health needs with dignity and inclusion. 🤝 Call to Action: Collaboration with governments and the social sector is vital to develop responsive solutions, drive policy reforms, and ensure equitable access to quality MHH products and services.
