STX Group is proud to be one of the initial signatories of a letter to be addressed to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol), alongside World Biogas Association (WBA), the Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas, the European Biogas Association (EBA), Eurogas and The Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA). As part of our commitment to advancing effective climate solutions, we strongly support the push for considering a market-based approach in emissions accounting when using renewable gases. By signing this letter, we stand behind the need for market instruments to be recognized in GHG emissions reporting to drive meaningful progress in the most efficient way. We also wish a clear interim statement to be issued on this topic later this year to provide clarity and confidence for all stakeholders in the renewable gas value chain. This week, we attended the inaugural Future of BioLNG: Europe 2025 event in Amsterdam, where industry leaders gathered to discuss BioLNG innovation, market trends, regulation and decarbonization strategies. Peter Blomberg, Head of Bio-LNG at STX, presented insights on how BioLNG strengthens our portfolio and supports industries in achieving both economic and environmental goals. He highlighted its role in compliance and voluntary markets, emphasizing the flexibility and value it brings across the supply chain. We observed that BioLNG, as a nascent but growing market, holds strong potential in the transport sector, particularly for heavy-duty vehicles and marine applications. Its growth is largely driven by compliance markets, with regulations like RED, FQD, FuelEU Maritime and EU-ETS playing a crucial role. However, regulatory differences among member states continue to pose challenges.

The recent World Economic Forum in Davos highlighted 2025 as a defining year. Our CEO Marijn van Diessen attended the event and reflected on conversations about the "two Davoses" which highlighted the tension between growth and climate action. However, these priorities are not opposing forces but deeply interconnected and mutually reinforcing.   Key discussions focused on embracing technology and cross-sector collaboration to foster knowledge, health and cultural growth.
