Have you ever encountered a project that appears green, successful, and smooth on the outside but unexpectedly turns out to be red when you look closer? Such projects often carry numerous risks, exceed budgets, or simply aren't worth developing further. These types of projects are known as Watermelon Projects: green on the outside, red on the inside. How can such well-disguised projects be identified early on? How can machine learning assist humans in the discovery process and continuously improve large-scale development pipelines? This question and many more were discussed by Mark van der Pas, Markus Kuckertz and Ulrich Irnich in the Digital Pacemaker Podcast. ✨ Meet the Uffective Team - introducing Daniël Q1: How long have you been at Uffective and what is your role? 🙋♂️ I have been with Uffective for almost 3 years in the role of a Junior Analyst. Q2: What are you passionate about outside of work? 🎧 Outside of work, I enjoy playing and discovering new music. I also currently follow a master in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, where I am learning to broaden my skill set in the digital world. Q3: Which project or task at Uffective that you have been involved in would you describe as particularly inspiring and why? 🎓I had to create a text classification algorithm for a client that would classify items to be of a certain type from a text field. I found this particularly inspiring, as this was the first time that I was able to make full use of the skills I learned from my studies in a setting outside of the university. Q4: What unexpected ‘aha-moments ’ did you have when you first got to grips with the Uffective solutions? 💡 When working with different portfolios and the links between them, I got this realization that almost anything could be modelled in the the Uffective solution, as portfolios can be created for any type of object. This led to me looking differently at how flexibly our solution could be used. Q5: Do you have any hidden interests or special experiences? 🧳 I once went on exchanges to Aruba and China. Q6: What major changes do you expect to see in the IT and software industry that will affect our working environment? 👨💻 The obvious answer is of course that large language models like ChatGPT will impact the industry in a lot of different ways, something that is predicted by lots of people. As someone with a certain amount of knowledge in the field, I believe that the technology is very useful, but only in an auxiliary role as opposed to an operating role in the foreseeable future. Q7: If you could have a superpower in digitalisation or automation - what would it be and how would you use it? 🦹🏼♂️ To be able to automatically have the idea in my head typed out. It happens frequently that I know what I need to code and exactly how, but that it takes me good amount of time to fully type it out. Having the ability to immediately have that appear on the screen would make my life so much easier and the work more enjoyable, as the boring time spent just typing would not exist. 👋🏻 Join me in celebrating my contributions and feel free to share your thoughts and appreciation in the comments! #TeamSpotlight #UffectiveFamily #MeetOurTeam #EmployeeExcellence #CompanyCulture #RadicalTransparency

🚀 KVV’s Digital Transformation Success with Uffective The Kasseler Verkehrs- und Versorgungs-GmbH (KVV), a major utility and public transport provider, faced significant IT challenges after decentralizing its IT in 2009. This led to inefficiencies and lack of control across its 12 locations. In response, KVV established a Digitalization & IT department to regain oversight. To streamline project management, KVV implemented Uffective. The result? Enhanced efficiency, seamless approval workflows, and transparent project tracking. Uffective’s integration with SAP systems has optimized project initiation, approval, and execution processes. KVV's success with Uffective highlights how digital transformation can drive future-ready operations. 🌐 Click here for a comprehensive overview: https://lnkd.in/dFqdvJz6 #DigitalTransformation #ProjectManagement #Efficiency #IT

What an amazing evening at the CIO of the year Event 2024 at the Motorworld Munich, yesterday. I feel deeply honored to receive the Award "CIO of the Year 2024 Award". But this recognition goes to my team who got us here. I'm feel privileged to work with so many talented people and I'm really proud of our Technology Group for the amazing achievements in providing a strong digital foundation for E.ON. It has been a true team effort and I want to thank all colleagues for their dedication in the past 3.5 years! While it is always tricky to call out specific persons, there are still a few I like to mention especially in this context: Thank you Gert Buitenhuis for leading the infrastructure transformation with your amazing team, David Benkelberg, Julian Kortmann, Kim Dengs. Thank you Markus Rink for building the architecture and defining our technology strategy, Dr. Tobias Kloos. Finally, thank you Inna Chaneva-Umlauft for managing our daily business and making the success of the team visible, Kerstin Wiesinger. But this would have never been possible, without the contribution of our business leaders and their teams across the entire group. The digital mindset and focus to execute on our strategy is just extraordinary. Thank you for all your support, especially in the times when things did not went as expected! Let me close with a thank you to the CIO Magazin for building such a strong CIO community - your energy and commitment is really unique! - Henriette von Wangenheim, Jens Dose, Horst Ellermann and the entire team behind! I could not be more energized to work in such an exciting industry. Digitalization is key in our business to make the green energy transition happen. Looking forward to further shape the digital energy transition together with all of you! #CIOoftheyear #digitaltransformation #cloudification #teamperformance #customercentricity

🗓 1 year ago today, Uffective has increased its stake in ECfML to 100%! The European Center for Machine Learning (ECfML BV) was founded in October 2019 and has grown into a strategic partner of Uffective. ECfML not only provides extensive Machine Learning expertise but also top-notch services in .NET, SQL, and Testing. In the summer of 2020, Uffective acquired 29% of ECfML's shares and quickly recognised the vital role of this partner. In the meantime, ECfML has become Uffective's primary supplier, with its 30 employees making a significant contribution to the success of Uffective's product and the satisfaction of our customers. Our collaboration is characterised not only by the highest quality but has also made Uffective even more reliant on ECfML's services. Odo Kloecker, CTO at Uffective shares, "The successful acquisition of the remaining 71% of ECfML shares is a crucial step for our future. We can now ensure that the outstanding ECfML team will continue to drive Uffective forward. This is not only beneficial for our company but, most importantly, for our valued customers." Niels van der Pas, former managing director of ECfML, adds, "By selling our shares, we have strengthened the position of ECfML within Uffective. We are proud to have already contributed to Uffective's success with our Machine Learning models, be it in investment decisions, project cancellation or cost estimation. We are excited to continue actively shaping the future of Uffective". Niels has now taken the role of Chief Data Officer at Uffective.
