  • 🌍 Reflections from COP29: Bridging Divides for Unified Climate Action After sharing some images and videos from the latest #COP29 in Baku, we are keen to provide to our Network a deeper insight into this global event, which touches urgent natters for all of us. We're doing it through the words of one of our delegates, Nareeka Ahir who was deeply touched by this gathering and by hearing diverse voices came together to shape the global climate discourse. From grassroots activists to corporate leaders, this conference highlighted the power—and limitations—of cross-sectoral dialogue in addressing the climate crisis. You can read more about these vital reflections and the path forward in Nareeka's full article on our website and let us know what you think! https://lnkd.in/dDRKuJ5K #stayunited #climatechange #COP29 #ClimateAction #unitedforclimate

  • 🌍Our Young Delegates are back from #cop29 in Baku, which proved to be even more intense, challenging and inspiring than expected. A lot happened, between panels with country representatives, parallele sessions, workshops, demonstrations, with the achievement of a deal that left many countries unhappy, proving once again that when it comes to power and pressures, the world is still very much unfair and unbalanced. Nonetheless we were extremely grateful to have our delegates present, to document what was happening but also sharing diverse voices and insights, thanks also to the work of Humanity Consulting and Erasmus Global Partnerships. So stay tuned and #stayunited to read their account and let’s hope that we will see fairer and effective policies to face #climatechange

  • 🪧Many organisations and individuals keep leaving the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, because of the unstoppable and unmoderated rise in hate speech and violence. For this reason we’re sharing the call of organisations like @Civil society forum , reminding that we took this decision more than one year ago, with the bitter acknowledgment that our worst fears became reality. #stayunited

📍10 December marks the #humanrightsday , and this year’s made particularly special because it also marks the 75th anniversary of the document from which this celebration was born: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). “This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. The Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 and sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected. Available in more than 500 languages, it is the most translated document in the world.” 🌍 How are we celebrating it at UNITED? Now that is getting stronger and stronger the tendency to believe that it can be allowed to deny basic human rights to someone just because they are somehow different, we want to remind that we can do our part by limiting the power of those people who deliberately act in the belief of being and deserving more than others. ✊That’s why our celebration of Human Rights Day is the announcement that our procedure to close our Twitter/X account is finally coming to an end, allowing us to stop contributing to a platform that fuels egotistical needs and that disregards diversity of opinion and intersectionality. We can’t be accomplices of such behaviours legitimising this way of managing an important platform, populated by millions of people. ✊WE WANT TO STAND STRONGLY IN DEFENCE OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN ANY PLACE. This means that we can’t allow to be part of the misuse of what used to be an important space for dialogue and that is now become a place of violence and harrassment. We hope that many people will make a similar choice and support spaces of true dialogue instead. So #stayunited and #quitx

  • 🌍Today’s the last day of #cop29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and we’re extremely grateful for our Experts & Delegates program that allowed us to be present in such a vital event for our world. Our young Delegates have been covering particularly the topics of Climate Finance & Loss and Damage, supporting the advocacy to empower youth, as well as women with disabilities in climate policy making. 🌱This was also made possible by our partners, Humanity Consulting with the @erasmusglobalpartnerships initiative, that allow for capacity building and competence exchange at multiple levels. Here you can hear one of the delegates, Nareeka Ahir sharing her impressions. We’ll be posting tales and insights also from others, so keep following to stay updated on what’s going on regarding #climatejustice worldwide and let us know if you’d like to be involved or to propose some ideas. #stayunited #environment

  • 🎉 We're thrilled to announce the finalisation and publication of our new manual, “𝙃𝙀/𝙎𝙃𝙀 𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩 – 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣”! 📘✨ Crafted within the R2COM project - Radicalisation and Violent Extremism Prevention in the Community , this handbook complements the TV-RAT (Transitioning Vulnerabilities to Radicalisation Assessment Tool). It's designed to support practitioners in their professional roles when dealing with violent extremist environments. It also provides crucial guidance on how to identify, prevent further escalation, and support pro-social reintegration. We hope this handbook becomes a valuable resource in your daily work, promoting democracy, human rights, and equality for all, while countering undemocratic and violent extremism. 👉 Download it here for free https://lnkd.in/dcRvdZxn and let us know how you’ll use it! #StayUnited #PreventRadicalisation #PromoteEquality

It's a collection of tips and advices on how to resist and react to populism, doable for all of us, together and individually. ✊Discover them and share the ones that resonates with you the most or the ones that can represent a commitment you're willing to make, for yourself and for your community of practice. 🔸𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 🔹𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 🔸𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 🔹𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 🔸𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 🔹𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸-𝗨𝗽 🔸𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 🔹𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 🔸𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 🔹𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 🔸𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 We truly hope you'll find the inspiration you need to #stayunited #againstfear 💛

  • ✊The 9th of November Campaign Week is over but Activism is not! While we're waiting for our delegates'account of what has been going on at #COP29, let's treasure some of the insights that came from our ***ACTIVIST LIVESTREAM*** UNITED Against Fear. Conversation with Navika Deol , to remind ourselves that many of us share the same worryings and anxieties about the present and the future, nonetheless, they won't disappear by giving our power away to populist leaders, who take advantage of our negative feelings to gain personal advantages. ⭐️So let's keep doing our best to #stayunited #againstfear , supporting each other and spreading #solidarity and #humanrights

  • 🌎 It's surely difficult to keep up with everything that goes on in the world and that would require attention, awareness and care, for this reason we're grateful to have our Delegate & Experts Program that allows the Network to literally be present in multiple places at multiple times and it's now allowing us to be present at #COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, to discuss particularly the topics of Climate Finance & Loss and Damage, and support the advocacy to empower youth, as well as women with disabilities in climate policy making. 🌱This is also made possible by our partners, Humanity Consulting with the Erasmus+ Global Partnerships initiative, that allow for capacity building and competence exchange at multiple levels. ✊We're very much looking forward to read and see the inputs and feedbacks from this group of young talents, especially considering that we're also looking closely to the silencing of activists in the country (read the article made by our intern Natalia Zelewska in cooperation with Tord Björk from Prague Spring 2 here https://lnkd.in/eP6EUuQb). #stayunited then, to be able to understand better what's happening around us and remember that you can still send your contributions for the 9th of November Campaign!
