Accompanying innovation to build a better tomorrow

Over ons

Our vision is to see a world where digital solutions, innovation and sustainable initiatives enhance quality of life for all. Our mission is to accompany innovation, whether it is led by the private or the public sector, in ways that create trust and drive positive change for society. YAGHMA strives to understand and describe the complex changes that the digital and green transitions are bringing about for our societies and environment. We use this knowledge to mindfully assess, predict and monitor the broader intentional and non-intentional impact of digital solutions, Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, innovative policies and other activities that realize the potential of the digital and green transitions. Furthermore, we help monitor the progress of sustainability and circular economy initiatives. We work with research organisations during their innovation processes, businesses while they develop new products and public authorities needing to formulate new policies. To do so, we: - Foresee the intended and unintended social, ethical and environmental impact of innovative solutions and policies. - Develop, customize and refine frameworks and tools to monitor the intended and non-intended ethical, societal, legal, environmental and governance impact of activities. - Help monitor technical innovation across social, ethical and environmental aspects in a mindful manner. - Facilitate customized monitoring of environmental sustainability and circular economy progress - Guide stakeholders in embedding impact assessment into their organisational DNA.

  • 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐛𝐨𝐱: 𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐈 In the race to implement AI solutions, organizations often treat principles like bias mitigation, robustness, and transparency as final checkboxes. However, this approach fundamentally misunderstands how AI risks and impacts emerge and evolve throughout a system's lifecycle. 💡 Consider bias: It doesn't simply appear at deployment. It can be entangled with the purpose of the AI system, embedded in initial training data, amplified during development, manifested in deployment decisions, and perpetuated through feedback loops. Each phase of an AI system's life presents unique challenges and opportunities for ensuring responsible implementation, making continuous assessment of the impacts of AI critical for trustworthy and responsible AI solutions. #YAGHMA can provide both dedicated tools and consultancy on assessing and mitigating negative impacts of AI systems throughout their lifecycles. #ResponsibleAI #AIethics #BiasMitigation #AItransparency #TrustworthyAI #AIimpact #EthicalAI #AIgovernance #AIassessment #TechForGood

  • 🌍𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬?🌍 To foster responsible innovation, organisations should embrace these core principles: 🔍 Reflection: Evaluate every action, assumption, and decision by connecting them to moral values and scientific good practices. Reflexivity goes beyond individual responsibility—it’s an institutional and public practice that considers impacts across the organization and value chain. 🔮 Anticipation: Proactively explore plausible scenarios for innovation outcomes. Identify risks, opportunities, and uncertainties, shaping activities toward realistic and desirable futures without overestimating benefits. 🤝 Inclusiveness: Engage diverse stakeholders—both internal and external—early in the innovation process. Inclusive participation strengthens reflexivity, anticipation, and responsiveness, ensuring broader perspectives and better outcomes. 🔄 Responsiveness: Stay adaptable, aligning innovation with evolving stakeholder needs, values, and emerging knowledge. Responsiveness ensures innovation remains ethical, impactful, and relevant in changing contexts. But how can organizations put these principles into practice? A structured roadmap design supports the implementation of responsible innovation through these key steps: ➡️ Top Management Commitment & Leadership – Secure executive support to drive responsible innovation efforts. ➡️ Context Analysis – Assess the organizational landscape, identifying societal expectations, regulatory requirements, and ethical considerations. ➡️ Materiality – Identify the most relevant issues and priorities that impact both business and society. ➡️ Experimentation & Engagement – Test solutions, co-create with stakeholders, and foster participatory approaches. ➡️ Validation – Evaluate the effectiveness of responsible innovation efforts through iterative feedback and assessment. ➡️ Roadmap Design – Develop a strategic path to integrate responsible innovation into business processes and decision-making. We’re excited to share that the book featuring Emad Yaghmaei's co-authored chapter "PRISMA - A standard to go beyond the status quo: roadmaps to innovate responsibly" is now available https://lnkd.in/dfRzNXCY  📚 By highlighting business opportunities and offering insights from leaders in business, politics, and academia, this book delves into how responsible innovation can be put into practice 🌍 Let’s pave the way for innovation that’s not only groundbreaking but also responsible!✨ #ResponsibleInnovation #RRI #Reflexivity #Anticipation #Inclusiveness #Responsiveness #InnovationLeadership

We identified 11 evaluation frameworks and derived key indicator categories to measure the value of REALM through 5 demonstrators. ✔️ Collaborated closely with VITO and Maastricht University to design the REALM Value Assessment Framework, linking indicator categories with stakeholder value elements. This framework has been iteratively refined and integrated with insights from the November 2024 REALM Hackathon in Brussels. ✔️ Developed model concepts for a cost-effectiveness analysis model and drafted MDR certification pathways for each demonstrator through structured interviews with demonstrator holders. The insights gained are shaping the path forward for assessing the value of REALM through the 5 demonstrators.   🔜 Next steps include validating the REALM Value Assessment Framework with consortium members and challenging the cost-effectiveness models for each demonstrator. We’re proud to contribute to measuring the value of the REALM_EU project in MDSW evaluation in healthcare!   #REALMProject #DigitalHealth #HealthTechnologyAssessment #MedicalDeviceSoftware #Innovation

  • 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐈 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 As AI transforms our world, organizations and society face a pressing challenge: ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑑𝑜 𝑤𝑒 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑓𝑢𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑐𝑢𝑠𝑠, 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑔𝑒 𝐴𝐼'𝑠 𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑠? Without a standardized taxonomy, we risk talking past each other about both opportunities and risks. 💡 Consider this: When a business discusses "AI efficiency gains," are they measuring reduced person-hours or accelerated innovation? When policymakers address "workforce impacts," are they focusing on job displacement, reskilling needs, or emerging roles? When communities raise concerns about "AI risks," are they worried about algorithmic bias, privacy, or the changing nature of human interaction? Without a shared framework, critical nuances get lost in translation. A comprehensive AI impact taxonomy isn't just about clarity—it's about enabling meaningful action 🔎 . It helps stakeholders: ✔️ Bridge the gap between technical and societal discussions ✔️ Develop targeted strategies for workforce transition ✔️ Design effective educational and reskilling programs ✔️ Create inclusive governance frameworks that consider both innovation and social responsibility ✔️ Enable cross-sector collaboration in addressing challenges As AI adoption accelerates, the need for this shared language becomes increasingly urgent. It's time to move beyond broad generalizations and develop precise, actionable ways to discuss how AI transforms our organizations, communities, and society as a whole. At #YAGHMA, we're excited to announce that we're developing a digital tool to enhance a shared language on AI impacts and to support comprehensive AI impact assessment. Stay tuned for the launch of our solution that will help organizations navigate and manage AI impacts systematically. #ArtificialIntelligence #SocialImpact #FutureOfWork #Innovation #DigitalTransformation
