Erasmus MC and TU Delft recently inaugurated the MOtion Biomechanics & Imaging (MOBI) Lab, a cutting-edge research facility dedicated to accelerating the translation of technological innovations into clinical practice. By integrating advanced motion capture technology and dynamic imaging, the MOBI-lab offers unprecedented insights into cartilage health and joint function. This initiative exemplifies the power of interdisciplinary partnerships in addressing complex health challenges. The MOBI-lab is one of the first shared facilities of Convergence Health & Technology, a research collaboration between Erasmus MC, Delft University of Technology, and Erasmus University Rotterdam, which originally emerged from a Medical Delta initiative. 🧊 Music, pain, and Lowlands Festival: New research insights 🧊 How does music impact our ability to endure pain? That’s the question a team of researchers from Muziek als Medicijn Erasmus MC set out to answer at last year’s Lowlands Festival. Over three intense days, they gathered data from more than 500 festival-goers, working tirelessly with ice packs and timing tools, while catching a few concerts along the way. The results, now published in Nature Portfolio, reveal that listening to your favourite music is actually the most effective way to handle pain. Interestingly, songs you assume would help aren’t nearly as powerful as those you truly love. Recently, the research team even had the honour of a visit from our former Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb during his farewell tour, where he learned about Muziek als Medicijn and shared his own favourite music. 💚 Brat Summer: The trend of the summer of 2024 Music sociologist Julian Schaap and media researcher Simone Driessen, PhD of ESHCC give context to this summer's trend the 'Brat', driven by Charli XCX's album Brat, which took over TikTok and Instagram. It embodies a carefree, party-driven attitude, offering young people a way to escape the anxieties of today's world. This movement, while seemingly hedonistic, is more about escapism and healing.
