#AI-powered care for patients with #COPD and other chronic illnesses
Over ons
Over the course of four years (2021-2025), RE-SAMPLE will work to transform the healthcare journey of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients, and to set a standard of care for patients suffering from complex chronic conditions. Using Artificial Intelligence, RE-SAMPLE hopes to gain unique insights into the complex relationships between patients’ clinical and non-clinical characteristics, and how these impact disease progression, mental wellbeing, and physical health. The data and analyses will also serve as a basis for predictive models that could help patients and their doctors make treatment and lifestyle changes in time to reduce serious complications.

On 28 January, we celebrated Data Protection Day, whose main objective is to raise awareness on the importance of personal data, their processing as well as #privacy, including citizens' rights. But why is the #useofdata important and what impact can it have on healthcare? The #datacollection from #digitaldevices, such as wearables and #eHealth Apps, provides a comprehensive overview of an individual's health status. This data can be used to #personalisetreatments for each patient, enhancing their effectiveness, and identifying early indications of potential issues and continuously. Monitoring patients' health, the #clinical team can effectively contribute to disease #prevention and early intervention, optimising processes. Data storage in the medical field is a crucial component of eHealth solutions, and the RE-SAMPLE project team is constantly striving to safeguard the privacy of #patients involved in the project. Our objective is to provide #COPD patients with a reliable and privacy-compliant solution that could improve their self-management. For this reason, we have created a trustworthy and #GDPR compliant framework that could preserve patients' privacy and, at the same time, support patients in self-managing their diseases with the developed digital tools. Taking all ethical and privacy regulations into account, including the recent #AIAct guidance, we are finalising the development of a promising solution that has the potential to create a real impact on patients with #chronicdiseases.
