We (Gabrielle Quadra, Christian Fritz, Rosalie van Zelm and I) are excited to announce the launch of Paludi4All, a new #HorizonEurope research project focused on the potential of #paludiculture. 🌱 Paludiculture is the use of wet and rewetted peatlands in a productive, sustainable way. It offers a critical solution to the emissions from drained peatlands, ensuring also the livelihood of farmers. But scaling it up from niche pilot sites to widespread adoption is no small feat. This is where Paludi4All comes in! Our project aims to better understand the climate mitigation, broader environmental and socio-economic impacts of paludiculture while exploring innovative solutions to upscale it across Europe. https://lnkd.in/eyyA3fy4 The Radboud Institute for Biological and Environmental Sciences (RIBES) team will focus on assessing environmental impacts using life cycle assessments and estimating the current and future potential of paludiculture. And with our amazing partners, we look forward to going beyond these topics and drive this interdisciplinary, co-creation-based effort. Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V. (FNR), Universität Greifswald, Thünen Institute, Natural Resources Institute Finland / Luonnonvarakeskus, Scotland's Rural College, and Institute of Technology and Life Sciences Poland. 🌱 In parallel, we are also starting a second project on paludiculture: PaluWise will develop large-scale demonstration sites to test and show the potential of this sustainable farming practice. Hoera. #FutureDikes heeft de 2024 Team Award gewonnen van de Radboud Faculty of Science. De prijs is vanmorgen uitgereikt bij de Nieuwjaarsbijeenkomst van de faculteit. De prijs is voor een onderzoeksgroep die het afgelopen jaar als #TEAM een bijzondere prestatie heeft geleverd. Ik ben buitengewoon #trots op deze prijs voor dit gedreven Future Dikes team. Alleen als team met een waaier aan competenties en ervaring hebben we de prestatie van afgelopen jaar kunnen neerzetten. Geweldige onderzoekers, de promovendi, de collega's en externe partners met hun deskundigheid, scherpte en constructieve samenwerking. De analisten en de medewerkers van Radboud Proeftuin en Kassen met hun tomeloze en flexibele inzet. Het project leunt dagelijks op een daadkrachtig office management. Dit complexe project zou nooit opgezet en uitgevoerd kunnen worden zonder de deskundige inbreng van de ondersteunende diensten van de Faculteit. Future Dikes vraagt veel en krijgt veel van Radboud Innovation Science, de juridische afdeling, Finance en HR. Chapeau voor de belangrijke bijdragen van deze professionals; ze zijn onderdeel van het team geworden. Ik zie de prijs als een stimulans om ons werk de komende jaren in Future Dikes Fase 2 verder uit te bouwen.
