UiB Interns Make a Splash at Aanderaa We had the pleasure of hosting two students from the University of Bergen (UiB) this fall, who chose Xylem-Aanderaa for the industry experience portion of their master’s degree program in marine technology. Eiril and Marie have shared their enthusiasm, competence and determination across multiple departments, executing product comparison tests, deploying equipment for testing, calibrating water quality sensors, and contributing to our Xylem watermark event. These passionate young women have tackled demanding tasks with gusto, demonstrating both hands-on skills and expertise in data verification and analysis. Their exceptional teamwork and collaborative approach signals bright futures ahead. Thank you, Eiril and Marie, for becoming a part of our close-knit team, however briefly. We also extend our thanks to UiB and Bjørn Tore Hjertaker for the excellent ongoing collaboration and trust, as you shape the next generation of ocean technology specialists.

In less than three months, Xylem built, delivered, commissioned and supported installation of three Aanderaa MOTUS buoys, field deployment completed today for the client in Central America, on both the Pacific and Atlantic sides of the continent. Achieving this milestone required close collaboration between Xylem facilities in the US and Norway and with Xylem representative Barriles. The research equipment onboard the Statsraad Lehmkuhl is undergoing a significant upgrade in preparation for the upcoming One Ocean Expedition. Aanderaa - a Xylem brand, will equip the vessel with advanced tools to study the state of our oceans. The sensor package will measure critical ocean parameters, including oxygen, salinity, temperature, and chlorophyll. This data is vital for understanding ocean health and identifying areas threatened by pollution or climate change. The sensors will be installed on the ship, providing real-time water quality measurements throughout the twelve-month One Ocean Expedition, which begins in April 2025. Marine researchers on board and land will have access to this data, which will be stored for future analysis and made available to everyone.
