From undergoing a strategic review of our company to launching an optimized genetics product portfolio - SalmoPrime®, SalmoBoost®, and SalmoRobust®-we stayed committed to delivering excellence in quality, biosecurity, and precise delivery. Our team rose to the occasion amidst challenges, such as effectively managing ISA detection in Salten while maintaining our customer commitments. In Chile, we saw strong growth in ova deliveries, and in Iceland, our contingency plans ensured uninterrupted operations despite volcanic eruptions. At Benchmark Animal Health, we refocused on our expertise in sea lice management. We saw a growing demand for Salmosan® Vet and Purisan® and repositioned the business model for CleanTreat® /Ectosan® Vet.   Novo Holdings, a leading sustainable investment firm, has agreed to acquire Benchmark Genetics, marking an exciting new chapter. Novo’s commitment to innovation and sustainability underscores the immense potential of aquaculture genetics to transform the global food industry. The acquisition is expected to complete in Q1 2025 subject to normal regulatory approvals. 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢 𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐧 Benchmark Genetics Salten har nylig foretatt en endring i ledelsen. Pablo Mazo har tatt over rollen som daglig leder etter en periode som konstituert i stillingen. Vi ser frem til at Pablo fortsetter å styrke selskapet med sin omfattende kompetanse og entusiasme. Han har en solid bakgrunn innen havbruksnæringen, både i Chile og Norge. Pablo har tidligere vært daglig leder for Benchmark Genetics Chile og nylig Performance and Documentation Manager hos Benchmark Genetics Norway. Før han startet i Benchmark, hadde Pablo lederroller i flere tekniske avdelinger hos anerkjente chilenske oppdrettsselskaper, inkludert Ventisqueros og AquaChile. Han har også arbeidet i den tekniske avdelingen til den chilenske oppdretterforeningen SalmonChile (INTESAL). Pablo har omfattende erfaring innen genetikk og avl, settefiskproduksjon og planlegging. Han er utdannet fiskeriingeniør fra Universidad Católica de Valparaíso i Chile og har en mastergrad i akvakultur fra Norges miljø- og biovitenskapelige universitet (NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences). Samtidig takker vi Ann-Kristin Skaugvold for hennes innsats som daglig leder. Av helsemessige årsaker vil Ann-Kristin tre inn i en ny rolle som Senior Rådgiver, hvor hennes erfaring og innsikt fortsatt vil være en stor ressurs for oss. Bringing together researchers, academics, producers, and industry suppliers, the event highlighted innovations and collaboration in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). Jean Paul Lhorente Caussade, Lead of the Chilean Breeding Program, delivered an insightful presentation about “How Genetics Supports Smolt Production in RAS" and shared valuable insights on how tailored genetic solutions are helping to improve smolt quality and performance in land-based farming systems. Jean Paul highlighted the importance of biosecure salmon eggs of top quality all year round for land-based systems, selecting traits like growth, early maturation resistance, and pathogen resilience, emphasizing Benchmark Genetic's cutting-edge research, including sterility and future gene editing applications such as disease resistance.
