What do these guys have in common? Looking at the photo, it might be hard to guess. At a first glance, you can tell that one works with large industrial projects. The other appears to be an “office guy”. Jonas is an apprentice working at the Kollsnes gas processing plant and is at the beginning of his career. Sverre, who has worked for Equinor for more than 40 years, was the project director at Northern Lights, our carbon transport and storage facility. I met them both earlier this year, visiting Øygarden outside Bergen. They are shaping today and tomorrow. Jonas, like most in our company, produces the energy that is needed today. Sverre, has prepared our company for a different tomorrow. Yet, both are guided by the same mindset. In Equinor we call it “searching for better”.  It is about people’s efforts, ideas, expertise and ability to collaborate. Their inherent drive to solve a difficult task. Meeting people like Jonas and Sverre makes me an optimist. It gives me confidence that we will contribute with a wide span of solutions that are needed both today and for tomorrow. What’s purple, floats, and will assist in the decarbonization of European industry? The Northern Pioneer ⚓️ The first vessel in a fleet of four CO2 transport ships for the Northern Lights project is now ready for delivery at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co.  The LNG-powered Northern Pioneer is the first vessel of its kind – the world's first ship for commercial CO2 transport. It’s custom designed to safely transport liquefied CO2 from capture sites in Europe to the Northern Lights receiving terminal in Øygarden, Norway.  From Øygarden, CO2 will be pumped via pipeline to a subsea structure at the seabed and injected into a geological formation some 2600 metres below the seabed in the North Sea for permanent storage. Phase 1 of Northern Lights includes the capacity to transport, inject and store up to 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year.  Find out more 👉 https://bit.ly/4fQXHtR

If only there was a First Lego league when I grew up!  I was a curious child and was always keen to understand how things work. I spent hours at the library, reading, especially about astronomy and space travel. I followed my interest, not into space - but into engineering. I still get a kick when I have the chance to get a deeper understanding about how things work.  Equinor is a proud sponsor of FIRST® LEGO® League, one of the world's largest knowledge and technology competitions for children and young people aged 6-16. Each autumn, a new challenge is launched. The teams work to understand the problem, develop a solution and design a Lego-robot. Tens of thousands of teams from over 100 countries participate annually.  Equinor’s sponsorships focus on supporting those searching for better:  better technology, better innovation, and better solutions for the energy transition. We want to support those that come up with new solutions to one of our time's biggest challenges: producing the energy the world needs while reducing emissions. These days, many teams prepare for the First Lego League final later in November. I wish them good luck with their preparations!

🚨 Funding Alert 🚨 We’ve partnered with the Responsible Offshore Science Alliance (ROSA) and NYSERDA to launch a Regional Research Program – a $3.4 million fund to support #offshorewind ⚡💨 and fisheries 🐟🐠 research along the East Coast.

Funding Opportunity Announcement! ROSA is announcing the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) offering up to $3.4 million to advance regional solutions for fisheries and offshore wind along the U.S. East Coast. This RFP seeks to fund hypothesis-driven research in three high-priority areas: 1. Supporting Fisheries Access – Developing strategies for the coexistence of fishing activity with offshore wind, or strategies to mitigate potential impacts. 2. Understanding Potential Offshore Wind Impacts on Larval Fish – Advancing our knowledge of how offshore wind may affect the larval transport, settlement, and distribution of commercially valuable species. 3. Fisheries Monitoring: Data Integration, Evaluation, & Analysis – Leveraging existing data to enhance regional monitoring efforts, aiming to understand data needs and capabilities for assessing cumulative impacts. Funded projects will generate valuable insights to guide planning, management, impact assessment, and mitigation efforts and support the long-term resilience of our fisheries and marine ecosystems. This funding is made possible through the Empire Wind 1 project, developed by Equinor and supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under its New York 4 Offshore Wind Renewable Energy Certificates solicitation. 💡 Interested? Say hello to the first 3D printer of its kind in Norway!👋⚙ It can create metal parts bigger than a human and is important for three main reasons;  It saves time and reduces materials, transport and costs - resulting in a lower carbon footprint. The new 3D printer in Mo i Rana is officially opened. I had the honor to push the start button. Usually, it goes like this:    During an inspection a broken part at a facility is discovered . The damage gets reported and a new part is ordered. The wait could be up to a year, depending on the broken part. The costs could be several million USD and include transportation across the world before the new part finds its way to its new home in the construction. But not anymore. Now we can easily print many broken parts when we need them, where we need them thanks to increasing additive manufacturing (3D printing) eco system that is about to be established. The new Metal 3D printer of Industrial AM in Mo i Rana - a joint venture between MOMEK Robotics, Testpartner and Kunnskapsparken Helgeland is another welcomed piece of the puzzle. Aker BP and Equinor have both been engaged in establishing this value chain North in Norway. I really enjoyed taking part in the opening of this new chapter in a unique and proud industrial story that allows us to repair, reuse and redesign parts that are needed. The next step? I would love to hear your thoughts on that! And I could also add that we are looking into using scrap metal for printing new parts in the future. #equinor #additivemanufacturing #3Dprinting

Johan Sverdrup, Norway’s third largest oil field, shows how we can produce oil both efficiently and responsibly. Since coming online 5 years ago, the Johan Sverdrup field has now produced more than one billion barrels of oil.  Accounting for a full 40% of total production on Norwegian continental shelf, the production numbers are sizeable. But some of the other numbers are just as important and impressive: 🌍 Due to power from shore, Johan Sverdrup has record-low production emissions of 0.67 kgs of CO2/barrel over the entire lifetime of the field – 80-90% lower than the global average. 🎯 95% production efficiency – among the highest in the world.  🇪🇺 90% of the oil from Johan Sverdrup is delivered to Europe, making it a major contributor to securing European energy supply in a period marked by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. 🛠️ A recovery rate ambition of 75% thanks to innovative technology – including remote-controlled drilling operations and reservoir monitoring – that not only increases recovery rates, but also minimises emissions and optimises operations. 🇳🇴 82% of Johan Sverdrup revenues go to the Norwegian state through taxes and direct ownership interests. This is estimated at a total of about USD 110 billion over the field’s lifetime. Production on Johan Sverdrup is expected to continue for almost 50 years. And with increased safety, reduced costs, maximized returns and reduced emissions, resources are utilized in the best possible way and will ensure growth, jobs and industrial development for decades to come. Ever heard of a high-performing troll? Even though I’m Norwegian, the only troll I know of is the unwavering Troll gas field in the North Sea. Over time, we have upgraded the capacity in the gas value chain. Since the start-up back in the ’90s, the Troll field has never delivered more gas to Europe than over the last year. Within the “gas year”, that runs from 1 October and a year on, the Troll field alone produced at an all-time high and covered 11% of European gas demand. That is quite impressive. Equinor is the largest supplier of energy to Europe, and we are well prepared to deliver the gas that industries and households need. Going into the winter, storages are at a healthy level, but we see a sensitive gas market with a high level of uncertainty. The end of the gas year coincides with the third quarter, which we report on today. The high-performing Troll is one of the highlights. Here are a few others: -         The Johan Sverdrup field delivered a production record of more than 756 000 barrels in one day -         We completed an extensive turnaround programme -         The Northern Lights facility was finalised and is ready to receive CO2 In total, we deliver solid operational performance and financial results. We are on track to deliver strong cashflow from operations for the year. Check out the details in this presentation:
