Insecure communication—what is it, and what are the risks for mobile apps? Insecure communication happens when mobile apps transmit sensitive data without proper encryption or through untrusted channels, leaving information vulnerable to interception by attackers. The key risks of insecure communication: 🚩 Data interception, exposing sensitive user information 🚩 Man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks between the app and server 🚩 Credential theft, leading to unauthorized access to accounts 🚩 Exposure of sensitive APIs, risking access to backend systems Ways you can strengthen mobile communication: ✅ Secure API communications ✅ Limit data exposure and avoid using plain-text ✅ Implement certificate pinning to prevent MITM attacks ✅ Use TLS (transport layer security) to encrypt data in transit By implementing these best practices, it reduce security risks and keep user data safe.
