Jeg har lyst å fortelle om min arbeidsplass Norilia! Norilia gjør i praksis det samme som bonden gjorde i riktig gamle dager, da dyrene ble slaktet på gården. Bonden sørget for å at alle deler av dyrene ble tatt vare på og brukt til noe. Dette ga bonden god verdiskapning. I dag slaktes dyrene på slakteri. Nortura sørger for at kjøttet kommer på norske matfat, mens Norilia sørger for at HELE dyret blir utnyttet ☺️ Av det totale volumet, så er 30-40% (avhengig av dyreslag) noe annet enn kjøtt. Disse produktene kaller vi internt for plussprodukter. Norilia sin oppgave er å finne de beste marked og bruksområder for plussproduktene, og styrer varestrømmen fra slakteri til marked. Noen produkter sorteres og klassifiseres, andre foredles, men viktigst av alt er at de leveres med en god kvalitet slik at de kan selges til høyest mulig pris. Plussproduktene går til mye forskjellig. Mye av ulla går til strikkegarn, huder og skinn til vesker og sko. Tarmer leveres til pølse-produksjon, mens innmat og bein går til mat for mennesker og dyr. Ca 70% av plussproduktene eksporteres. I mange land er fortsatt innmat og bein en del av landets matkultur, og i noen tilfeller delikatesser. Vi leverer også mye råvarer til menneskets beste venn; hunden 🐶 Å ta vare på HELE dyret gir både god verdiskapning og er bærekraft i praksis 🌿 Det føles meningsfylt å jobbe i Norilia med en SÅ viktig oppgave. Selv jobber jeg med å utforske nye muligheter gjennom forskning, innovasjon og forretningsutvikling. Det vil jeg gjerne fortelle mer om i en annen post. I SFI Industriell Bioteknologi samarbeider industripartnere og forskningsinstitusjoner tett for å møte dagens samfunnsutfordringer og styrke Norges konkurransekraft innen industriell bioteknologi. Vi arbeider for å tette kunnskapshull og øke kompetansen innen områder som er viktige for næringslivet, og skape nye muligheter for en fremtidsrettet og bærekraftig næring. Vi har også 15 PhD-studenter som arbeider med sentrale problemstillinger i samarbeid med industrien. Nå har vi akkurat hatt vårt årsmøte hos NORCE Norwegian Research Centre i Bergen, hvor vi delte siste nytt og diskuterte videre planer og samarbeid. Bra oppvarming til årsmøtet i SFI-Industriell bioteknlogi. Håper det blir en debatt som utfordrer både behovet for skalering (både i produksjonsvolum og tilgjengelige virkemidler) hastighet og ikke minst prioriteringer for å nå i det minste delmål knyttet økt andel norsk/bærekraftig for til norsk laks og husdyr.
