Strong partnerships for a secure and green Europe 🇪🇪🤝🇳🇴 Last Thursday, Norwegian Ambassador to Estonia, Marius Dirdal, shared an opinion piece in ERR News (Eesti Rahvusringhääling), highlighting the important cooperation between #Estonia and #Norway. This close partnership is essential for strengthening European #security, advancing #renewable #energy, and fostering regional resilience. In a time of growing global challenges, strong alliances are key. They not only address immediate energy and security needs but also drive long-term solutions for a sustainable future. From defense cooperation through the Joint Expeditionary Force (#JEF) to impactful initiatives funded by the EEA and Norway Grants this partnership lays the groundwork for a more interconnected and secure region. At Vindr , we are proud to contribute to these shared goals. The Baltics’ exceptional wind energy potential and focus on sustainability make them a central part of Europe’s green transition. Through our projects like Estonia’s #Imavere and Latvia’s #Nīcgale wind parks, we aim to foster local development, enhance energy independence, and strengthen regional cooperation. 🔗 Read the full article in the comments. Big steps for renewable energy in Latvia! 🇱🇻🤝🇳🇴 Two weeks ago, we had the honor of presenting our #onshore wind park project in #Nīcgale, located in the #Augšdaugava municipality, to the local leadership and community. Joining us for this significant milestone was the Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia, Ine Måreng, Norwegian Embassy in Riga, showcasing the strong long-term relationship between Norway and the area. The #Nīcgale wind park will feature 26 turbines, representing an initial investment of €200 million. Once completed, it is projected to generate 727 gigawatt-hours annually—equivalent to 10% of Latvia's total energy consumption! ⚡ What makes this project even more meaningful is its role in strengthening #local #infrastructure and continue fostering long-term collaboration between #Latvia and #Norway. We’re excited to continue building on these strong foundations and contributing to a greener future for Latvia! 🌳 Special thanks to our amazing colleagues for their contributions and representation in the media, Dmitrijs Guzs, Ph.D. and Martiņš Vonda. Dmitrijs, our Business Development Manager, highlighted the potential of the Augšdaugava region, saying: "We see that the construction of wind farms as such brings development to the region and also development to the country in the sense that increasing energy production reduces the price of electricity and attracts other industries." 🔗 See the full news clip and article in the comments. A huge thank you to the entire Vindr team for their hard work and dedication!🙌 Dmitrijs Guzs, Ph.D. Martiņš Vonda Jan-Olav Øderud Stian Rosvold Tønnessen Varis Boks Stian Tvede Karlsen #RenewableEnergy #WindPower #Latvia #Norway #GreenEnergy #Sustainability #Teamwork #Baltics

65% of #Estonians 🇪🇪 consider the transition to #RenewableEnergy essential! 💡 A recent survey reveals that over half of respondents strongly support the development of #WindEnergy as a priority. According to Marko Viiding, Ph.D., head of Vindr Baltics, public awareness of renewable energy solutions has significantly improved in recent years. The survey also highlights that 54% of respondents believe wind energy projects are crucial for meeting Estonia’s energy needs and enhancing #EnergySecurity. We’re especially encouraged to see that 42% of respondents think wind energy development in Estonia should move at a faster pace. At Vindr, we’re committed to making this vision a reality while ensuring that local communities have a meaningful voice in the process. Together, we can build a more sustainable future powered by renewable energy. 🌱 #WindEnergy #Vindr #RenewableEnergy #GreenEnergy #Estonia

What do Swedes really think about wind power? 🤔🇸🇪 As we work towards a #sustainablefuture, understanding public opinion is crucial. The latest report from The Swedish Wind Energy Association (SWEA) delivers a clear message: Swedes are overwhelmingly #supportive of wind energy. 💡 82% of Swedes support the expansion of wind power. This includes a majority of rural and urban residents, men and women, voters across all political parties, and people of all ages. The results highlight strong national support for investing in clean energy. 🌱 Yet, despite this, 12 out of 16 wind power projects were rejected by municipalities in the first half of 2024. #Why? Well, SWEA believes a significant reason is that many people underestimate just how much support there actually is for wind power. This gap between #perception and #reality can make it challenging for decision-makers—such as local politicians—who may feel like they’re navigating through a storm when considering new projects. At Vindr , we value #transparency and #collaboration as key to driving change. Initiatives like SWEA’s campaign #Medvindförvindkraft help break down #misconceptions and bring the facts to light, paving the way for smarter decisions for a sustainable future! 🌱 🔗 Check out SWEA’s full report linked in the comments! Different countries currently have various "tolerance fee" systems. Did you know that in #Estonia 🇪🇪, local #governments can use up to 1% of a wind farm's annual revenue for the benefit of the #community and its #residents? 🤓 Up to half of this amount is distributed among people living within 3 kilometers of the #wind #turbines. The rest can be used by the #local #government for whatever is most needed in the area. For example, last year, wind farm fees were collected in four wind park areas in Estonia, with additional funds allocated to three more where projects were under construction. ⚡️Interestingly, this system, which values local residents, serves as a model for other countries! Read about how Estonia's experience is shaping the future of renewable energy in #Sweden and beyond. > #WindEnergy #Vindr #RenewableEnergy #GreenEnergy #Estonia Marko Viiding, Ph.D.
