Our recent survey confirms that majority of Estonians support buildout of more onshore wind power. This of course has to be done in a considerate and sustainable way - with regards to local people, nature, the electricity grid as well as the total cost of electricity to the end-users. These are exactly the priorities we have with our projects at Vindr.

🌿 Nearly two-thirds of businesses with 50 or more employees have a positive outlook on the green reform, according to a survey conducted by Norstat. Support for the green transition is significantly higher among entrepreneurs compared to the general population: 👉 Among companies with 50 or more employees, 63% support the green transition 👉 A regular nationwide monitoring survey by the State Chancellery shows that 48% of the general population supports the green transition The survey also asked business leaders under what conditions they would be willing to maximize their use of renewable energy. "A third of entrepreneurs mentioned that tax incentives related to the renewable electricity component could increase the use of renewable energy," commented our CEO Mihkel Loorits. The poll was conducted in May this year, surveying 200 managerial-level individuals. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gxARupp4

☀⚡ Sunly and Metsagrupp are building the largest 244 MW solar park in the Baltics Consisting of nearly 350,000 solar panels, the park can cover the annual electricity consumption of 55,000 households. Construction of the park will start in the second quarter of this year, with an expected completion time in early 2026. According to Klaus Pilar, Country Manager of Sunly Estonia, Sunly and Metsagrupp view the Risti solar park as part of a larger plan. “For us, this is the first major example of a hybrid park project where different types of electricity generation and storage are located behind the same connection point.” Pilar explained that in the case of the Risti park, it is deemed expedient to start with the construction of a solar park; for future Sunly energy parks, a wind park will most likely be built first, followed by other options to boost production and for storage. At Vindr we actually think beyond the mandatory 1%. Many local communities are worried by a wave of planned new wind power developments, so it is important to have face-to-face meetings and hear their concerns. This way Vindr can develop, build and operate wind farms that help our nation become fully renewable-based and also deliver impactful benefits to the neighbourhoods.
Different countries currently have various "tolerance fee" systems. Did you know that in #Estonia 🇪🇪, local #governments can use up to 1% of a wind farm's annual revenue for the benefit of the #community and its #residents? 🤓 Up to half of this amount is distributed among people living within 3 kilometers of the #wind #turbines. The rest can be used by the #local #government for whatever is most needed in the area. For example, last year, wind farm fees were collected in four wind park areas in Estonia, with additional funds allocated to three more where projects were under construction. ⚡️Interestingly, this system, which values local residents, serves as a model for other countries! Leading players of construction industry are taking steps to make an impact on reducing emissions. YIT - Urban developer and construction company and Solnet Group signed a frame agreement to build rooftop solar systems on new buildings. As one of the largest construction company in the Nordics, YIT is targeting to be carbon neutral for its own operations by 2030 and for emission reductions in construction to be reduced by more than 30 per cent from the 2019 level. Again a good example how important partnerships are, in order to make an impact. A story about KC Energy in Delfi! 📰 🚨 Solar capacity connected to the Estonian grid rose to 1000 MW this year, more than 20 times more than 5 years ago. In order for solar to cover electricity consumption on summer days, half more capacity needs to be added to existing solar parks. 📈 "We are on the right track, solar is an important and necessary part of renewable electricity. We need to continue at the same pace to meet the renewable energy targets in reality. In the summer, Estonia produces nearly half of its annual solar energy, but this summer, for example, we were only able to exceed our electricity consumption with solar production on four days, for a maximum of five consecutive hours," said Mihkel Loorits, CEO of KC Energy. ☀️ Next year will see the completed construction of the Pihlaka solar park, KC Energy's largest development to date, which will add 35 MW of capacity to the grid. 💡 Today's Eesti Päevaleht has thoroughly analyzed how prepared we are in Estonia for the transition to renewable energy and what are the different scenarios. Sunly is working towards covering as wide a spectrum as possible from energy production to ensuring consumption. Among other things, we see that in Estonia, we need to consider the electrification of existing heating sources. Peeter Raudsik, Sunly's Head of Regulatory Affairs, believes that the current price of district heating will decrease for consumers in the future through electrification and help reduce the sector's carbon emissions. "Using heat pumps, in turn, reduces heat losses related to district heating, which in older grids can be up to 30%," Raudsik adds. Read more (in Estonian) ⬇

Kovin tutuilta kuulostavat nuo Aamotin argumentit: "We agree with DN that it does not make sense to compete with Chinese battery manufacturers for current battery technologies. But they are not sustainable and not compatible with requirements the EU has already flagged. ...Here we develop new material compositions and chemical compounds. The goal is batteries that have a higher energy density and a longer lifespan than current solutions and that are safer than these. Those who are best in class in the combination of materials and electrochemistry, reinforced by digital technologies and process knowledge, can create batteries that use different raw materials than today's and thus be in the best position when the sustainability threshold is raised. ...In this area, we have world-leading expertise in Norway. The Chinese battery industry is growing in step with an automotive industry that is taking increasingly large market shares globally. But the demand for batteries will be enormous in many areas as well. So what are Norway's strengths in this situation? Firstly, we have a very strong position as a material supplier. Players such as Vianode, Glencore, Elkem and Hydro are already well underway. Secondly, we can supply batteries for complex and increasingly dynamic energy systems in industries where Norwegian players are leaders. ...Third, we can electrify industrial processes. This requires giga batteries for stationary storage of renewable energy. ...battery value chain here in Norway will be viable, because it can rely on materials technology that we are good at and because it will serve niche areas that we know a lot about." #akkuteollisuus #kilpailukyky #norja https://lnkd.in/dJ_Nz4Hs
