What a fantastic way to bring the 1M team together at our company-wide Toolbox meeting! With 155 colleagues in attendance, we celebrated the successes of 2024 and looked ahead to the exciting opportunities 2025 holds. A big thank you to FDG NZ Ltd for fuelling our discussions (and our team!) with an incredible BBQ. The burgers were a hit, and it was great to hear FDG’s vision for “partnering for project success.” Their support on some of Auckland’s key projects this year has been invaluable, and we’re looking forward to continuing our collaboration on future initiatives. Here’s to strong partnerships and a shared commitment to creating better-built environments for our communities. #weare1M #Collaboration #Teamwork #BuiltEnvironment #HVAC

Yes, the light at the end of the building compliance tunnel is coming – that’s the clear message that Trent Fearnley, the CEO of the Association of Building Compliance gave to the attendees at our inaugural OCS | 1M Industry Insights event in Auckland yesterday. Trent joined Dominic Lauten, Solutions Architect from Simfeny, our OCS Australia & New Zealand Managing Director Gareth Marriott, and 1M General Manager Jeff Wright to discuss the latest technology and thinking around building compliance, BMS and energy management, and to offer their thoughts about the next developments coming down the line. There was something for everyone to take away from the session, and we’ll be sharing more about these valuable insights through our channels over the coming weeks – including some of the fun moments from our two MCs, Steve Holloway and Seamus Marten from the Between Two Beers Podcast!

Kia ora Aotearoa New Zealand – and to our 1M whānau. This week we celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori – Māori Language Week, when we make an extra effort to show our support for one of the three official languages of Aotearoa. This year’s theme for Te Wiki 2024 is ‘Ake ake ake – A Forever Language’, representing the resilience, adaptability and endurance of te reo Māori, as well as the commitment New Zealanders have to embracing te reo Māori for the future. At OCS, we’re proud of our ongoing commitment to ensure te reo and te ao Māori is part of our business-as-usual operations – not just this week, but every week, guided by our Cultural Capability Strategy, Whiria Te Tāngata | Weaving the people together. We’ll be sharing more about what we’re up to for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori over the coming days, but in the meantime, here’s a handy resource that can get you started today – give Te Reo a go! Kia pai te rā! #TWoTRM #KiaKahaTeReoMāori #TeWikiOTeReo #akeakeake #weAre1M

We’re delighted to share a project we worked on in collaboration with SmartBT is one of five nominees in the sustainability category at the global KNX Awards 2024. The KNX Awards reward the smartest KNX projects in home and building control around the world. It highlights projects that stand out for innovation and technical progress. To have a project we have worked on in the sustainability category is a huge achievement for all involved. The project, Te Mātāwai, is a Kāinga Ora state housing development. It has 276 apartments, including office space and facilities, and was designed with a 6-star Homestar rating (New Zealand's leading holistic sustainability certification) and a commitment to 85 per cent of its waste being diverted from the landfill. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday 25 September. All the best to the SmartBT team. #WeAre1M #sustainability #innovation

Safety first is a critical priority for 1M and our wider OCS Australia & New Zealand team – we want our people to return home safe from work every day. And recently, we were part of a huge milestone that reinforces just how important that priority is for us. Recently, Built Environs and the entire site team at Manukau Health Park – currently under construction - celebrated a massive 500,000 hours of being LTI (lost time injury) free. The 1M has been part of this huge project for 11 months. To celebrate this significant achievement, the main contractor put on a lunch for the entire site and awarded some of the subcontractors that have particularly stood out in terms of hitting the LTI milestone. 1M was one of those, receiving a Best Practice Recognition Award for our valued contribution and consistent commitment to best practice on the site. A huge congratulations to everyone who is involved in the build, and particularly our 1M team – we’re proud of this awesome achievement! #weare1M #safety #bestpractice

1M is committed to workplace safety. It’s not just a regulatory requirement; it’s a fundamental part of our culture. This week, some of our team successfully completed Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) refresher training. SWMS ensures all work is carried out safely, protecting our colleagues from harm and our business from the repercussions of accidents. The team identified hazards and implemented control measures to mitigate any risks. By doing this, we significantly reduce the likelihood and severity of workplace incidents. It’s a proactive approach that ensures the wellbeing of every team member and underscores the value we place on everyone’s safety and the safety of the sites we work on. Our colleagues are our greatest asset, and our number one commitment is to prioritise their safety at all times. #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyFirst #WeAre1M

Yesterday, 1M Operations Manager, Joel McDonald was joined by OCS Australia & New Zealand Managing Director, Gareth W Marriott on a site visit of the new Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Manukau Health Park that is currently under construction. 1M Project Manager Chris Field, Site Manager Elmerson Fandino and their team of 20 have been working hard to install critical medical air, oxygen and HVAC systems in the facility’s three new buildings before they complete the refurbishment of the existing building. Once complete in 2025, this groundbreaking, $316m development will provide additional medical capacity for South Aucklanders, enabling almost 150,000 additional outpatient appointments to be scheduled each year, and more than 3,600 additional surgeries per year on site from 2026. The 1M team are proud to be supporting such an important project that will have a lasting impact on the South Auckland community. Thanks for visiting Gareth! #weare1M #hvac #yourhvacexpert
