Today, we celebrate the incredible leadership and contributions of tāngata whaikaha/disabled people in Aotearoa. This year's theme, "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future," highlights their vital role in shaping a more equitable society. At Access, we are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Enabling Good Lives (EGL) approach, ensuring disabled people can lead and influence decisions that affect their lives. By amplifying their voices, we can build a future that is inclusive, sustainable, and just for all. Join us in recognising and supporting the leadership of disabled people as we work together for a brighter, more inclusive Aotearoa. 🌏💪 #InternationalDayOfDisabledPersons #tāngatawhaikaha #Inclusion #Leadership #Aotearoa #TeTiriti #EGL #DisabilityRight

About us
Access is one of New Zealand’s leading healthcare providers, specialising in home-based healthcare and support. We work with the Ministry of Health, DHBs and ACC to care for more than 20,000 people nationwide. Whether you require personal care, or just some help around the house, Access is dedicated to giving you the care and support you need to live independently in your community, and has been helping New Zealanders since 1927. Our skilled team of nurses and support workers provide a range of services delivered to your home, including: personal care, household assistance, fully qualified nursing services, palliative care and carer relief. Our services cater for people who are either living with a disability, rehabilitating following an accident or injury (one of only four national providers of homebased care for ACC), recovering from serious illness or surgery, over 65 and requiring home healthcare, suffering from a long-term condition, in the final stages of life, private carers needing relief or requiring Individualised Funding Services.

We are incredibly humbled to be part of Eden Park’s initiative to champion accessibility and inclusivity. Providing a safe space for individuals to retreat when they need a break from the excitement of an event is a simple yet impactful way to enhance the live event experience for everyone. At Access, our goal is to make every day a better day, and knowing that this safe space is available helps achieve that for so many. #edenpark Melissa Rice Austin Jones
The Access Community Health Sensory Room at Eden Park, New Zealand has recently been expanded; perfectly timed to be open for the recent Coldplay concerts. For those who are unaware, the Access Community Health Sensory Room, located on Level 3 of the Samsung South Stand, is a dedicated quiet space for people who love live events but find the experience overwhelming due to the heightened crowds and noise. This initiative has seen incredible success. We recognised the demand to create even more space for individuals and families who need a calming and supportive environment during our events and are proud to have brought these plans to fruition. Accessibility and comfort for all guests remain a top priority for us, and this expansion is one way we’re committed to meeting the needs of our patrons. https://lnkd.in/gZpkmchS Melissa Rice Androulla Kotrotsos Warrick Jackson Kelly Larsen Access Community Health Network Austin Jones

We are feeling inspired and excited to join our whānau with that of Volition in becoming a Champion Partner with them. 😊 At Access | Uru Ātea we love to collaborate with people who are also striving to make every day a better day. 🌟 The Volition team’s innovative, accessible app removes barriers and fosters self-determination and supported decision making. It has been developed alongside the people who will benefit from it – the tāngata (people) who we care for, along with their care teams and supporters. We wholeheartedly tautoko (support) this mahi and are excited to be a partner on this journey of empowered decision making. Ka rawe te mahi ngātahi! Great teamwork! 🎉 Erika Butters Androulla Kotrotsos Melissa Rice Donna McGarvey

We’re excited to share Sally’s heartfelt fundraising initiative aimed at helping our Whaikaha clients. After spending 3 months on bed rest with a broken leg, Sally decided to take on a new challenge: hand-cycling the Auckland Marathon with only 4 weeks to prepare! This is her first big event since her accident, and she’s determined to make it a success. Many in our community struggle to afford taxi trips to their medical appointments. Sally’s “Give a Little” page is raising funds to cover these essential costs. Every contribution, big or small, makes a huge difference. https://lnkd.in/g3csiEWZ Please share this with your friends and family. Together, we can make a positive impact! #CommunitySupport #Fundraising #AccessCommunityHealth #GiveALittle #AucklandMarathon #SpinalSupportNZ
