💛 “There are a lot of strengths that come with it.” For International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we spoke with our Chief Technology Officer David Wills, MIL about life with a hidden disability and his advice to his younger self. We’re officially a Sunflower-friendly organisation, thanks to the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower - Australia & New Zealand programme. For us this means: 🌻 97% of our frontline teams are now trained to recognise a Sunflower lanyard or pin, and provide the extra support for both customers and their colleagues. 🌻 We’re working with our Neurodiversity Network Group to continue raising awareness of more than 900 hidden disabilities, and to create safe spaces for our people to connect and celebrate their unique experiences.

✔️✔️ The way you make and receive payments is changing with the new Confirmation of Payee check. When setting up a payment to a new payee, you’ll need to include the account number and the full first and last name of the account owner, or the business account name, if it's a business. Once the check is complete, and before you make the payment, you’ll see if the account owner name and number are a match or not. Find out more at asb.co.nz/COP

📈 We’re all about Kiwi manufacturers who want to invest in what’s next in their path to a smarter, more productive future. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Employers and Manufacturers Association (EMA), an organisation that shares with us a commitment to empower businesses in their productivity journey. We’ve kicked off our partnership with EMA by launching the ASB Manufacturers Workshop series, ‘The Impact of Industry 4.0 on Your Business.’ These workshops are designed for those ready to embrace the future of digitisation and automation, providing a deep dive into how to unlock productivity, streamline operations and drive growth using advanced technologies at the heart of Industry 4.0. Ben Speedy, ASB’s General Manager of Commercial Banking, says, “We are excited to be working with EMA to deliver the Manufacturers Workshop Series to Kiwi businesses across the country. This partnership is another way we’re supporting business growth and productivity, alongside initiatives already available for food and fibre exporters and clean tech innovators.” We recently had a great session with Auckland manufacturers, and we look forward to rolling out to more regions in the new year.

One person’s yoga retreat is another person’s DIY project – we’ve all got our own ways to wellbeing. That’s why we’ve created Your Choice, one of our new ASB employee benefits that lets our people choose the thing that’ll make the biggest difference to them. As part of Your Choice, our people can choose from the following benefits, which they can review and change each year: 💻 A work from home allowance. 🏡 A top-up to their KiwiSaver account, to help support their future money goals. 💳 A preloaded Your Benefits card in partnership with Kiwi startup Extraordinary, to spend in a way that enhances their wellbeing. Your Choice is just one of the ways we help our people #StepForward.

The food and fibre sector is one of Aotearoa’s most vital industries, and it’s important to empower the many farmers and businesses involved in driving Kiwi innovation, resilience and excellence. The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards is all about championing this, and we’re excited to be backing them as one of their national sponsors. Every year, the New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards run a programme of over 60 events, 11 awards regions and a national awards final. Dairy farmers at all levels are encouraged to enter the award categories to benefit from the learning experience, grow their careers and connect with others in the industry. More information can be found at the awards’ website which we’ve linked in the comments 👇

🪔 💛 “For me, Diwali is not just a festival of lights, it’s also an emotion. It’s a feeling of returning home and feeling at home, celebrating with friends and family together,” says Megs, who’s part of our customer service team, and co-chairs ASB’s Indian Network Group. Growing up, Diwali has been significant to Megs and her loved ones, who would get together in their best clothes to perform early morning poojas (prayers), light diyas (oil lamps), decorate the home with rangolis and have a feast. “Bringing this same positive vibe to my work whānau at ASB and my community gives me a lot of joy as I can experience a part of my childhood again,” Megs says. To everyone celebrating Diwali, whether they have always done so or are joining in for the first time, Megs says, “Let’s embrace the light within ourselves. And like the diyas that burn bright in Diwali, let your spirit remain unshaken by life’s storms.” Deepawali Ki Hardik Shubh Kamnaye 🪔 💛 Best wishes for Diwali.

💛💙 We're thrilled to support Youthline Leadership Connect, a pilot programme tackling Aotearoa’s youth mental health crisis. Huge congratulations to the young leaders from the schools that took part, and a big shoutout to the incredible teachers and facilitators who supported them. These students have received training and support to become wellbeing leaders in their schools, ready to lend a listening ear and connect their peers to the support services they need. 🌟
