About us
Between Two Beers is New Zealand's most popular long-form interview podcast. We find New Zealand's most interesting and successful people and unpack the most revealing moments of their lives. The show was originally a football podcast before later expanding to other sports and then entertainment. In 2022 we had over 800,000 downloads, making us one of New Zealand's 10 most popular podcasts across all categories. We won silver at the 2022 New Zealand podcast awards for 'best interview' and 'best sports podcast'. Between Two Beers is owned by Steven Holloway and Seamus Marten - and we have partnered with the Alternative Commenary Collective in 2023.

We first met Paddy G at a Hamilton Boys High Foundation dinner in 2021. After a night out together, we talked him into coming on our podcast (episode 53), and it became one of our favourite episodes (we even re-released it). Since then, we’ve become mates, and it was our honour to take part in his live show ‘This is the F***n News’ in Hamilton last weekend. After introducing him to the stage and seeing the incredible response, we can confirm Paddy is an honorary Hambassador. Paddy is the brightest star in NZ media and delivered a ripper of a night, which acted as inspiration for planning our own live event in Hamilton next year. Thanks for having us Paddy G! Seamus apologises for butchering the Mooloo song. #nzpodcast #waikato #hamiltonnz

From rowing 2,200km across the Tasman, to building a business empire… Shaun Quincey’s incredible story is live wherever you get your podcasts! We spend the first half talking about his epic solo Tasman voyage from Australia to New Zealand, and how his dad is the only other person to have rowed the Tasman solo – in the other direction in 1977. In the second half we dive deep into his business success. 👉 Shaun is the founder of Genoapay, which was valued at close to $10 million dollars within six months of operations. 👉 Genoapay was acquired by Latitude where Shaun became General Manager, before taking up roles as a Director at IceHouse Ventures and Payleadr. 👉 He is the CEO and Co-founder of Simfuni – which was named the Insurtech start-up of the year in 2024. Shaun Quincey is the only person to ever row solo from Australia to New Zealand. It took 54 days in the world’s most treacherous stretch of water, going up against storms, whales, being capsized and all sorts of chaos. After completing his voyage across the Tasman, Shaun’s gone on to become a top selling author and an incredibly successful businessman. He is the founder of Genoapay, which was one of the fastest growing payment companies in NZ. He’s also the founder of Simfuni, a Director at Icehouse Ventures and Payleadr. This episode is an absolute ripper, don’t miss out - it will be live on all podcast apps first thing tomorrow morning! #nzpodcast #nzbusiness #tasmansea

Marc Ellis on the origin story of Charlie’s Juice. 🍊 On this week’s Business in Between, we’re re-sharing Marc’s incredible business story. From co-founding the company with a group of mates, to eventually sell it to Asahi for $129 million after 10 years. It’s a fascinating look into the business mind of a man known for his on-screen gags and hijinks, and one of our favourite segments from what’s been our most popular episode. Last Thursday was one of the best days of our lives… The perfect five year celebration. We’ve found the best part of this whole experience is bringing together great humans. They were at our B2B Speakers workshop during the day, they were on stage with us at the live event, and they were in the audience. There’s such a positive connection within this community we’re building - it’s quite overwhelming, but in the best possible way. A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the show, and who brought the livestream. A massive shout out to Jason Gunn as well as Staffy, Morgan and Matt Heath for bringing the perfect mix of depth, intelligence and spice to the show. A big thanks to Asuwere for dressing us and Jason, as well as Liquorland NZ for supporting the event! We’re just getting started in this space, and we can’t wait to continue building our live shows and experiences. #nzpodcast #betweentwobeers #liveevents

From troubled West Auckland teen to the President of Adidas North America. Zion Armstrong’s story is incredible - and his episode is one of our favourites ever. Last week Apple Podcasts released their list of the best performing episodes in NZ in 2024 - and this one with Zion Armstrong was on it. We've picked up a lot of new listeners since we released it in February, and wanted to highlight his incredible story again. Watch the full episode on YouTube or stay tuned for the episode re-releasing on all podcast apps tomorrow morning! #nzpodcast #nzsport #aotearoa #adidas
