As December begins, it's time to reflect on the incredible progress we've made this year both as an industry, and at BlinkPay. 2024 has been a game-changing year for open banking. At BlinkPay, we’ve witnessed firsthand how adoption is accelerating, and we've decided to share a snippet of how things are trending, as we believe that the results speak for themselves: 📊 October Year-on-Year Growth Transactions: +305.71% Transaction Value: +477.35% 📊 November Year-on-Year Growth Transactions: +188.79% Transaction Value: +514.09% These aren’t just numbers; they’re proof that open banking is transforming the way payments are made. This level of growth isn’t slowing down – it’s just the beginning. To everyone who has been part of this journey – our team, partners, and the wider fintech community – thank you for helping us shape the future. Here’s to closing the year strong and gearing up for even more in 2025!

I can't believe we're only 13 working days out from when the account information APIs become available from the major banks! To those we've received schedules from, thank you. To those still working on them, we're ready when you are 😉 As ever, if you want to have a chat about what the data APIs will enable, please feel free to email us at contact@blinkpay.co.nz. I have a rule that goes 'three times is a trend', and so when three different organisations asked me (this week) if #openbanking is actually a thing, I was taken aback. Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants, and so in that mind, here are our year-on-year growth figures for #openbanking payments. Oct-23 v Oct-24 our transaction volumes grew by +305.7% YoY, and transaction value grew by +477.4%. The 🚀 has taken off, don't get left behind! BlinkPay: The easier and safer way to pay. We're excited to share that BlinkPay has successfully re-certified under the latest ISO 27001:2022 standard! It might not sound like the 'sexiest' news in open banking, but believe us, it’s a huge deal for our customers and partners, so we're pretty excited about it! ISO 27001 is the global gold standard for managing information security. It provides a framework that helps businesses protect sensitive information, ensuring that we have the right safeguards in place to keep data secure and reduce risks. The updated 2022 version introduces new improvements, especially around cloud security and privacy, helping us stay at the forefront of today’s cybersecurity challenges. We've held this certification for years, and re-certifying under the updated standard is a big win that reflects our ongoing commitment to security and best practices. With data protection more important than ever, this achievement underscores our dedication to excellence and proves we’re always striving to do things the right way. This milestone is also one of the key reasons we've been able to secure commercial agreements with Aotearoa’s big four banks, reinforcing the trust they place in us and inspiring us to keep delivering secure, innovative payment solutions. A big shout-out to our incredible team for living up to these high standards every day. You make it all happen, and we couldn’t do it without you!

Where did the time go? 👀 Only 30 working days until 30-November, and the availability of the account information APIs from the major banks! We've been beavering away on our product solutions enabled by open banking data, and can't wait to bring them to market as soon as all of the data connections are available. As ever, if you want to have a chat about what the data APIs will enable, please feel free to email us at contact@blinkpay.co.nz. At BlinkPay, we’re on a mission to show Kiwis what Open Banking can do, and how it puts them in control of their data—and we’re building the products to support that vision. A recent survey from one of our four banking partners, Bank of New Zealand, shows there’s still a big knowledge gap around this game-changing technology. To build trust and get more people using Open Banking, we need to prioritise education. Got questions? At BlinkPay, we're always keen for a kōrero, so get in touch anytime! Data sovereignty is a hot topic, and the Customer Data and Product Bill, which is currently before Select Committee, has definitely sparked our interest at BlinkPay. Check out this article, where our Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Adrian Smith, shares insights on what we believe the Bill needs to cover to ensure effectiveness and build consumer trust. https://hubs.li/Q02QSj7B0
