Reflecting on the effectiveness of COP, Mike Berners-Lee shares a harsh truth: over 30 years of climate conferences have yet to achieve their goal of reducing global emissions. This graph tells the story—a steady rise in carbon emissions over the past 60 years. “You can put a marker in the middle of that line where the first COP took place, and you can’t see any difference,” Mike explains. “It’s as though the COPs never happened.” Mike calls for global leaders at #COP29 to reflect on the failure and course correct before it's too late.
