The Shared Horizons docuseries showcases New Zealand companies that are at the forefront of innovative thinking, and highlights success stories from across the food, beverage and grocery sector. It explores the depth, diversity, and ingenuity of the New Zealand food and grocery sector while considering the challenges and opportunities in the industry. Last week, we proudly delivered 3,000 Pollinator Seed Balls 🌱 and 125 kilos of Comvita Mānuka honey 🍯 to 50 North Island schools, with one of our Harmony Plan partners, Garden to Table Charitable Trust. These handcrafted seed balls - made from compost, clay powder, mixed pollinator seeds, and a splash of water by our team at Comvita - are ready to plant or toss, creating a haven for diverse pollinator species. The Comvita Mānuka honey will provide a delicious, gut-healthy alternative to sugar in Garden to Table recipes. Today, we honour World Rhino Day and reflect on Comvita's journey with these incredible creatures. It all began in 2018 when Jamie Joseph, founder of the charity Saving the Wild, reached out directly for our Mānuka honey, to help treat rhinos injured by poachers. Over the past decade, Jamie's tireless efforts in Africa have produced groundbreaking results in the fight against extinction, directly tackling corruption and poaching. Together, we’re making a difference! On World Honey Bee Day, Comvita is proud to have helped save over 60 million bees, by partnering with beekeepers in the USA, New Zealand and Singapore, to rescue and rehome beehives in urban areas. As part of Comvita’s Harmony Plan, we have been Kaitiaki (guardians) for bees since 1974. We are committed to promoting positive bee welfare outcomes and supporting the growth of bee populations and bee friendly habitats globally, which is why we have created our own Bee Welfare Code. The code ensures our bees are happy and healthy and fosters stronger, healthier beehives which helps grow honey bee populations across New Zealand. This is further supported by our Bee and Pollinator Education program, which teaches students in schools about bee welfare and how to create pollinator friendly habitats in their own backyard.
