Last Saturday, I had the privilege of speaking at HSBC’s International Education Fair. International Education is a milestone that’s close to my heart as both a parent and a professional. Like many of you, I aspire to give my now 16-year-old the opportunity to dream big and study at her ideal university one day. It’s a deeply personal journey, filled with hope, excitement, and of course, is not without its challenges. Our recent HSBC Quality of Life survey revealed that 96% of Singaporean parents are most concerned about financial preparations for their children studying abroad. This event was designed to address exactly that—helping families navigate this critical life stage with confidence and support. From seamless digital account opening to our enhanced Global Money Transfers service and curated partnerships with experts like Crimson Education, we aim to make this process simpler and more meaningful. I also had the pleasure of hearing from our wonderful panelists, including Vong Yap, a parent who shared his experience supporting his children’s overseas education; Evelyn Wu, a consultant from Crimson Education, who provided invaluable advice on applications; Kimberly Koh, Corporate Account Manager at HSBC who highlighted financial tips for parents and students abroad; and Aabha Gokhale, a student at Oxford, whose student journey was truly inspiring. It’s moments like these that remind me why we do what we do at HSBC. We’re here to support families, open doors to opportunities, and help them build brighter futures.
