About us

GreenAir has been established in the interior plantscape and green infrastructure industry for over 18 years. Within our sector, we are renowned innovators and go above and beyond to maximise the ways that we can bring greenery into offices and commercial spaces. We wave the flag for biophilic design and the huge benefits it can bring for you and your team. We don’t see WFH being the long term solution and we are constantly developing our products to help get teams back into the office space whilst feeling inspired, calm, productive and safe. From traditional floor standing planters to eclectic pots on tables and shelves, right through to green walls, mobile screens and modular garden beds, there isn’t anything we can’t do or make happen. Depending on your appetite for innovation, we have some big and bold ideas that we would love to be the next big thing in the commercial space. If you have an idea or a problem that can be solved with some creative thinking and our experience, our team of in-house designers and plant specialists can bring it to life. Led by founder Simon Chamberlain, GreenAir operates in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, frequently collaborating with leading architects and designers to create stunning experiences and healthier environments. GreenAir was formed in 2001 with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation. The GreenAir team brings together a diverse group of specialists with a wealth of professional qualifications and experience in interior garden design, horticulture and project management, along with a passion for healthy workplaces.

  • Did you know Green Walls can help save cities from major floods? Urban areas are built for efficiency, but all that concrete and asphalt leaves little room for rain to soak into the ground. Enter green roofs and living walls—the eco-friendly stormwater solution. Here’s how it works:  🍃 Rain Absorption: Plants and soil on green roofs and walls absorb rainfall, reducing the amount of water that rushes into storm drains. 🍃 Slows the Flow: These systems hold water temporarily, releasing it slowly to prevent flooding during heavy downpours. 🍃 Filters Water: As rain passes through the greenery, it’s naturally filtered, improving water quality before it enters waterways. Why It Matters: 🌿 Reduces urban flooding risks. 🌿 Prevents erosion and contamination of natural waterways. 🌿 Supports healthier ecosystems by reducing stormwater runoff. Greener cities mean smarter water management and a brighter future for everyone. Below is the Green Wall we installed at Hotel Grand Chancellor Auckland. It is more than just a stunning visual feature; it plays a vital role in making Auckland a more sustainable city—cooling urban spaces and supporting sustainable rainwater management. It has been great to collaborate with companies like Ignite , NZ Strong Group ,Beca and Boffa Miskell Limited to spearhead this movement in Auckland. #GreenInfrastructure #SustainableCities #RainwaterManagement #UrbanGreening #ProtectOurWaterways #GreenAir #greenwalls

  • Faces of GreenAir, meet Paige Kenyon 👋 Paige is part of our design team, developing innovative solutions to integrate greenery into urban spaces. She aims to deliver the most effective and aesthetically pleasing design solutions to enhance our clients' spaces and well-being.   She works closely with architects, interior designers, and other industry professionals to create environments where both people and plants can flourish! Here are a few questions to get to know Paige a little better 👇 What do you love about nature? “From a young age, I have been fascinated by nature and the diversity of plants. From the intricacy of ecosystems that thrive all around us, often unnoticed. To watch how plants adapt and evolve to their environments. This connection to nature continues to inspire and drive my passion.” “I also love the history behind plants and their essential role in supporting human survival throughout the ages. I find stories about the medicinal properties of plants and the ways our ancestors used them fascinating. Equally inspiring is how we are rediscovering and reintroducing these botanical treasures into the modern world, harnessing their benefits in new, innovative ways to enhance our well-being.” What do you love about working at GreenAir? “I am continuously growing and developing my knowledge about plants and how we can reimagine them in urban spaces. It is truly rewarding designing for a client and seeing the plants liven up their spaces.” What do you like to do outside of work? Outside of work, I love being at the beach and exploring new coastal areas. Additionally, one of my favourite activities is visiting op shops to hunt for secondhand treasures. I love the thrill of discovering unique, one-of-a-kind items with history and character.

Hotel Grand Chancellor Auckland Project 🏨 🌱 Come behind the scenes of the Hotel Grand Chancellor project, a 4-star, 12-story new build hotel nestled in busy Auckland City. We have loved infusing the “GreenAir touch” by breathing life and nature into the space. The touch of nature allows visitors to feel grounded, calm, comfortable, and relaxed during their stay. We installed four different innovative planting solutions: green facades, a green wall, circular wall planters, and floor-standing plants. Join us in our mini-series as we dive into each of these elements, showcasing how we've infused a natural twist to this hotel new build. Finally, let’s highlight our planters. The planter design at Hotel Grand Chancellor embraces a natural, distinctly New Zealand aesthetic, seamlessly integrating with the striking toki toki backdrop. We chose native-inspired planting and simple, natural-looking planters to highlight and enhance this iconic backdrop. Each planter features an innovative water-up system, designed to simplify maintenance by providing a consistent moisture level. Each 17-litre reservoir is topped with a perlite mixture—an absorbent medium that retains moisture effectively. This mix absorbs water from the reservoir through a felt underlay, keeping the plants damp for an extended period, simulating a natural bush environment. 🎤 Listen to a short snippet of our plant expert, Michelle, as she explains our planting decisions ✨ Boffa Miskell Limited Beca Ignite NZ Strong Group #hotelgrandchancellor #UrbanGreening #SustainableSpaces #BiophilicDesign #UrbanPlantscapes #GreenInfrastructure #BiophilicArchitecture #GreenInteriorDesign #biophilicdesignhotels
