Sir Murray Halberg's charity which aims to enhance the lives of physically disabled young people through sport & rec.

About us

Founded by Sir Murray Halberg in 1963, the Halberg Foundation (formerly the ‘Halberg Trust’) aims to enhance the lives of physically disabled young people through sport and recreation. The core work of the Foundation is based around a team of regional Advisers throughout New Zealand. These dedicated and expert field staff work with physically disabled young people and their families to connect them to sports and recreation opportunities. They also deliver inclusive training on adapting sports and to schools and organisations and provide support for inclusive events and programmes. The Foundation also hosts the Halberg Games a national, three day sports competition for physically disabled and vision impaired young people. The Halberg Awards is the country's pre-eminent event to honour and celebrate New Zealand sporting excellence and the Foundation's major fundraising event.

Today we had an inclusion training session with the wonderful Max from Halberg. A fun, inclusive and at times confronting session learning and expanding our skills to ensure everyone has the opportunity to be active and feel included. Personally, I have been doing the best I could with the knowledge and skills I had. Following today I have further built these skills and deepended my understanding so now I can do better to support the community. I love being on a journey of continual learning and growth. Thank you so much Halberg for all your wonderful mahi.
