Rural Leaders are pleased to share the final research reports from graduates of 2024’s Kellogg Programme Two. A large part of the impact model at Rural Leaders is based on these individual research reports - a deep dive into a topic of their choosing. As a result of this, these Kelloggers leave the programme equipped to think and act strategically and will have made a valuable research contribution to the sector. Just some of the topics covered by this Kellogg cohort are: - How can we add value to non-replacement calves in the dairy industry? - Opportunities and challenges for arable farming in Canterbury in the future. - Value and opportunities of farm planning in the New Zealand sheep and beef sector. - Levers for driving sustainable innovation within the NZ food and fibre sector. - Marketing the nutritional benefits of eating beef and lamb. - Kaitiakitanga, an indigenous philosophy for a modern world. - Answers under foot: Should soil health be our #1 sustainability goal? - Future proofing our workforce: Where will we find the skills for tomorrow. - Low stress cattle handling: people, products and the wider New Zealand beef industry. You can find the Research Reports of the 52nd Kellogg Cohort here https://lnkd.in/gQYvrW6r A special thanks to our partners, whose support and investment makes delivery of Rural Leaders’ programmes possible. Today I received my Postgraduate Certificate in Commerce from Lincoln University which was an awesome oppertunity offered to us by Rural Leaders as part of the Kellogg Programme! This marks the end of my Kellogg journey, but not a day goes passed where I do not reflect and use a tool or experience taught to us in this amazing course. Very grateful for a year of learning!

Last week I was honoured by the Rural Women New Zealand | Ngā Wāhine Taiwhenua o Aotearoa, alongside my co-founder Harriet Bell, with Best Emerging Business for Hemprino (start up folks take note - it took us building the business for 5 years to reach the **emerging** category!) It was also 6 years that week since I presented my research at the end of my Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme in 2018. I never could have predicted where that course would take me, having met both my Hemprino co-founders on that course, and, as Harriet and I reflected to the judges for Rural Women awards, we never could have learned on a course what we have learned building and running Hemprino. It's nuts! Now if you are in the market for some Hemprino, go to the website now and you can either receive 20% off your order for Black Friday, or donate 20% to the charity Meat The Need

Congratulations to Programme Two 2024 on their graduation.
Today was graduation day for Kellogg Programme Two 2024 (K52). These rural leaders started Phase One of their Kellogg in late June. They came from many parts of the country, from a range of industries, and all with a strong desire to grow as people and as leaders. After five months, including eighteen face-to-face days over three phases, many workshops, copious ‘aha’ moments, and insights from the sector’s most respected leaders, and having pushed themselves to deliver their final research reports and presentations – they have graduated. Congratulations to all the graduates of cohort K52. Here are a few words from four of the graduating scholars. “The people you meet on the programme, shake the hands of, listen to, and learn from, it’s hard not to be inspired by that.” Whitney Conder “I recommend the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme to food and fibre leaders wanting to think and act more strategically.” Dave Nuku “Key for me is learning how to ask the right questions. I’d recommend Kellogg to all farmers and growers looking to become better leaders.” Oliver Hampson “I recommend Kellogg to anyone looking to grow in their career and become part of a respected network.” Jordi Hoult K52’s final research reports will be available on the Rural Leaders’ site in the coming weeks. Programme Two, 2025 applications close 13 April, 2025. Early applications are welcome. hashtag#NZRuralleaders hashtag#KelloggRuralLeadership Whitney C. Surfing For Farmers is running at 25 locations nationwide this summer, with some sessions already underway in Southland and Tauranga. B+LNZ is proud to be a national partner of the initiative that supports rural mental health by getting people off farm and into the ocean. Justine Kidd, B+LNZ GM Extension, says the popular initiative is a fantastic opportunity for farmers to take some time off farm, connect with their peers and learn a new skill. “It offers farmers the chance to take both a mental and physical break from farming." I completed the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme in 2021/2 and met some incredible people on the programme. The course educates you on leadership and is based primarily at Lincoln University but you also spend a week in Wellington meeting agribusiness leaders and learning about the Beehive. If you know a Waikato rural-based or agribusiness individual that is a leader in their career or voluntary organisation please encourage them to apply and make them aware that both the Waikato Farmers Trust and Soda Inc. have funding to support the study. If you want more information please click on the pages linked to this post 🚜
The Waikato Farmers Trust provides charitable funding to organisations and individuals for the purpose of growing the intellectual capital of Waikato's rural and agribusiness community. The Trust has funding available for future Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme attendees. For further information and how to apply for funding see https://lnkd.in/g5QcqEFU
