The Government is working on changing the way most Kiwis pay for their road use, moving away from paying fuel taxes at the pump to paying distance-based road user charges. We want to hear from businesses that can provide simple solutions allowing people to easily pay, measure or manage road user charges.   We have released a Request for Information (RFI) on GETS and are seeking responses from a wide range of businesses - from software, technology, telematic and electronic systems providers to utilities, financial services providers, fuel companies, supermarkets, and other over-the-counter retailers. Seeking applicants for the Independent Reviewer - Civil Aviation On behalf of the Minister of Transport, the Ministry of Transport is searching for candidates to be considered for appointment to the role of Independent Reviewer - Civil Aviation. This is a new function introduced under Part 10, Subpart 5 of the new Civil Aviation Act 2023 (see more at https://lnkd.in/gr22HDDk), and will enable individuals to seek an independent review of decisions made by the Director of Civil Aviation. New Zealand’s Maritime Security Strategy has been refreshed to reflect its place in New Zealand’s revised national security system, giving heightened recognition to the Rules-Based International System’s importance for a trade-based nation like New Zealand, and highlights the economic opportunities the sea gives us. This week, the Government released the draft Government Policy Statement on land transport 2024 for consultation. It outlines what the Government wants to achieve in land transport, and how funding should be allocated between types of activities (for example, roading, public transport and road safety) across New Zealand’s land transport system. The Guide to New Zealand’s Maritime Security Arrangements has been published today by the Maritime Security Oversight Committee. This aims to support the Working Together strand of the National Security Strategy which recognises national security as an all-of-nation activity where everyone has a role to play in securing New Zealand's maritime interests for future generations. As a one-stop information source on how maritime security is delivered in New Zealand, it also supports our democratic values as a resource for effective accountability.  Read more below
