  • We recently celebrated a remarkable milestone — Glenn Davis’ 40th work anniversary! Glenn joined the port back in 1984 (then known as the Auckland Harbour Board), starting out at the workshops on Lower Albert Street 👷♂️ In those early days, technology was just starting to transform the workplace. While his boss worked on a cutting-edge monochrome green-screen computer, Glenn got the job done with pen and paper 📝 Glenn was drawn to the Auckland Harbour Board (now Port of Auckland) for its iconic image. From the heavy machinery and bustling passenger and cargo vessels to the memorable long red fence, he took immense pride in being part of the big, busy port. To celebrate this incredible achievement, Glenn’s wife and colleagues gathered to honor his journey, presenting him with a special mere pounamu as a token of appreciation. Congratulations, Glenn, on this outstanding milestone and your invaluable contributions over the years. Here’s to 40 years of excellence — and counting! 👏 You can learn more about Glenn in our latest edition of Rapport: https://lnkd.in/gCxnkzPW. #aklport #portlife #ourpeople #40years #celebration

Visible safety leadership starts with your Board. This week the Port of Auckland Board went on board a ship to understand just what is involved in lashing a ship and how physically demanding the task is. They took the opportunity to talk to lashers, to observe how they actually work and to verify that work is done as imagined. Whilst the Board enjoyed the visit, the staff appreciated the recognition of their critical role even more……. #VisibleLeadership #SafetydrivesCulture #Recognition #Appreciation

  • Earlier this month, we wrapped up the year and welcomed the festive season with our port whānau at Rainbow's End! 🎢✨ We hired out the theme park for an unforgettable night of fun, and over 1500 of our employees and their loved ones joined in the festivities. The evening was packed with delicious food, thrilling rides, live music from an amazing band, face painting, and even a special visit from Santa, who brought smiles and gifts for the tamariki! 🎁🎅 It was wonderful to share this well-deserved night of joy and connection with everyone. Thank you to our incredible port team for all your hard work this year. Here’s to an even brighter 2025! #aklport #portlife #whanaungatanga

  • This Christmas, a special delivery takes flight! 🎁 For the past 10 years, Port of Auckland employees have come together to donate hams, turkeys, and gifts to families in need. This year, we’re thrilled to partner with The Salvation Army to make the season even brighter 🎄 Each year, we gift our people a hamper to celebrate the festive season with their whānau. They also have the option to donate their hamper to charity. Thanks to these generous donations, plus a few extra hampers and gifts — we were able to share a wonderful assortment of goods with The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga & Samoa. A big thank you to Nexus Logistics for helping with transport, ANL New Zealand for supplying the refrigerated container, and IRS International Pty Ltd for keeping everything at the perfect temperature during its journey! And of course, to our incredible port whānau — thank you for spreading holiday cheer to those who need it most. Together, we’re making a difference — one container at a time 🧡 #aklport #portlife #spreadthejoy #thesalvationarmy

Oh, what a night! 🏆 The port took home two awards at the Deloitte Top 200 Business Awards last Thursday. We took out the Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Award and Jan Dawson was named Chairperson of the Year ✨ The port was also recognised as a finalist in the Company of the Year category, and CEO Roger Gray as a finalist for Chief Executive of the Year. These achievements highlight our teamwork, collaboration, and commitment to inclusion, which has been the foundation of our transformational journey. Celebrating our diversity has helped us improve our performance and culture, making the port a safer, more profitable, and welcoming place to work. We are incredibly proud of the collective efforts of our workforce, unions, leadership teams, and employees, who have worked together to turn the port around and start delivering for Auckland again. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists for their incredible accomplishments! 🌟 #aklport #portlife #DeloitteTop200 #leadership #diversityandinclusion
