Ten decommissioned Hato Hone St John ambulances bound for Ukraine arrived at the port over the weekend. The ambulances were driven from Kirikiriroa/ Hamilton to Tāmaki Makaurau by Tenby Powell, founder of Kiwi K.A.R.E (Kiwi Aid & Refugee Evacuation) alongside a dedicated team of Kiwi and Ukrainian volunteers, co-ordinated by Kate Turska, MNZM 🇺🇦 from Mahi For Ukraine. Our port multi-cargo team member Zair K. oversaw the logistics for this latest shipment. This is the second consignment of decommissioned ambulances received by the port from Kiwi K.A.R.E. bringing the total number of ambulances shipped to Ukraine by Tenby and his team to 35. The ambulances will be operational by late April and will be used to aid critical humanitarian and medical work in Ukraine. These vehicles, which have served communities around Aotearoa, will continue to make a difference by supporting lifesaving efforts aboard. Working collaboratively with charities like Kiwi K.A.R.E who make a positive difference in people’s lives is something we are proud to do. #portlife #aklport #ukraine

Ensuring our vessels operate at the highest standards is a priority, so we recently took Waipapa, one of our tugboats, for its scheduled five-year maintenance – a well-deserved birthday treat! 🎉 Thanks to the amazing team at Titan Marine Engineering, this major project wrapped up at the end of last year. The final touches included refilling hydraulic tanks, engine coolant, and, of course, a fresh coat of paint 🖌️✨ This effort took careful planning and coordination, and we couldn't have done it without our incredible Marine team and the crew at Titan Marine. A huge thank you to everyone involved! Waipapa is now back in action on the beautiful Waitematā Harbour, ready to bring in the ships that contain goods for Auckland 🚢 #aklport #portlife #marineengineering #tugboat

We recently celebrated a remarkable milestone — Glenn Davis’ 40th work anniversary! Glenn joined the port back in 1984 (then known as the Auckland Harbour Board), starting out at the workshops on Lower Albert Street 👷♂️ In those early days, technology was just starting to transform the workplace. While his boss worked on a cutting-edge monochrome green-screen computer, Glenn got the job done with pen and paper 📝 Glenn was drawn to the Auckland Harbour Board (now Port of Auckland) for its iconic image. From the heavy machinery and bustling passenger and cargo vessels to the memorable long red fence, he took immense pride in being part of the big, busy port. To celebrate this incredible achievement, Glenn’s wife and colleagues gathered to honor his journey, presenting him with a special mere pounamu as a token of appreciation. Congratulations, Glenn, on this outstanding milestone and your invaluable contributions over the years. Here’s to 40 years of excellence — and counting! 👏 You can learn more about Glenn in our latest edition of Rapport: https://lnkd.in/gCxnkzPW. #aklport #portlife #ourpeople #40years #celebration
