Cabinet has agreed to disestablish Te Pūkenga and WDCs, create a network of ITPs focused on core delivery either as standalone entities or as members of a federation, and create new Industry Skills Boards (ISBs). Decisions on work based learning are still to be made, and no decision has been made yet on which ITPs will be autonomous and which will be part of a federation. There are also decisions to be made regarding funding for the new system and about the number and coverage of ISBs.

We are immensely proud to be able to say that New Zealand continues to top the world in university sustainability rankings! 👏 QS has recently released the third edition of the QS Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings: Sustainability. All eight of New Zealand's universities rank in the top 500 this year, giving the country the highest average score in the rankings. Congratulations to our universities for this recognition of their ongoing work in the sustainability space! This is good news for universities as they look to attract students to their campuses especially as QS Destination: Australia and New Zealand report 2024, found that 63% of students interested in studying in New Zealand say environmental sustainability was very or extremely important. Our Future Skills QS Diploma students recently had the opportunity to visit an enabling works site in South Auckland. This experience was invaluable in helping them bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world site conditions, providing hands-on practical experience and a deeper understanding of actual project dynamics.
