Driving Success – on the road and in business. Happy New Year, 2025! The team at Spaceworks Interior Architecture is back, buzzing with energy after some classic Kiwi adventures—road trips, sunshine (and a bit of rain), and plenty of stories to share. As we kick off the year, we’re reflecting on a standout moment from 2024: our collaboration with Porsche AG for their Female Driver series. Seeing Lizzi Whaley and her Porsche Taycan featured was a proud moment, celebrating women and the shared value of great design enhancing experiences. Whether it’s the seamless flow of a car’s design making every drive a joy, or a workspace designed to empower businesses, it’s all about creating something exceptional. The celebratory lunch at Ada with powerhouse entrepreneur Emma Lewisham sharing her journey was the perfect way to cap it off. It goes without saying that we channel this same passion into design—helping businesses reimagine their spaces to maximise experience. With a growing demand for cost-effective, high-impact refurbishments, our focus is on creating spaces that don’t just look great but work as hard as you do. We’re also diving deep into the possibilities of AI. From predictive analytics refining layouts to VR and AR bringing concepts to life, we’re embracing new tools to push the boundaries of design and drive efficiencies for our clients. Here’s to bold ideas, meaningful collaborations, and the power of great design. Ready to create a space that drives your business forward in 2025? Let’s talk.

🌟 Wrapping Up 2024 🌟 As we close out the year (COB December 20, reopening January 13, 2025), it’s the perfect time to reflect on what’s been a year of ups and downs. Let’s face it—no year is without its challenges, but it’s in overcoming them that we grow and learn. Here’s a snapshot of our top 5 milestones and challenges for 2024: 🟫 1. Adapting to Change From navigating shifting project priorities to new client demands, we’ve remained agile and proactive—problem-solving is what we do best. 🟫 2. Expanding Our Footprint Focusing on regional areas like the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and South Island has opened up new opportunities, proving that great design isn’t just for the big cities. 🟫 3. Sustainability in Action We tackled Scope 3 emissions projects, embraced circular design strategies, and helped clients create spaces with real environmental impact. 🟫 4. Delivering Big Projects Whether it was aged care, retail rollouts, or workplace fitouts, we’re proud to have completed transformative projects that are all about the people, aligning spaces with business success. 🟫 5. Focusing on Culture Our people are everything. This year, we celebrated milestones like: 🎉 14 years of Christy Ormand 🎉 10 years of Kerry Tolley 🎉 8 years of Anau Milton & Bradley Keys 🎉 7 years of Wendy Donaldson 🎉 6 years of Lauren Gibbs 🎉 5 years of Penny Angell By fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion, our team continues to make work enjoyable and our designs meaningful. This year reminded us of one key thing: resilience and adaptability are everything. A huge thank you to our incredible clients, suppliers, and team for your support, collaboration, and trust throughout the year. ✨ Wishing you all a wonderful, restful Christmas and New Year. ✨ Here’s to 2025—may it be a year of growth, creativity, and success. See you on January 13th!

Too many cooks in the kitchen? I know, it’s one of those cliche sayings. But when it comes to designing an office for a design studio, it’s pretty spot on. How do you possibly filter all the amazing ideas? Functionality came first. Looking at how we operate in our current K Road space, it’s clear things have changed since we moved in 8 years ago—especially how we manage the constant flow of supplier materials. Top of the list? Making sure we don’t look like a showroom or a graveyard of materials. Once functionality is sorted, you hit aesthetics—and wow, the options! Endless. Add in the diverse perspectives of our team (DE&I is a core value for us, after all), and you’ve got some healthy design debates. Our ethos has always been that you can’t spot a “Spaceworks fitout.” We don’t have a ‘look’—that’s on purpose. We design for clients, not for ourselves. So, designing our own office? Let’s just say it’s going to be a journey of unfolding. We’ve decided that getting down to Britomart is the priority—being part of that vibe is great for culture and the team. Our office will be revealed over the coming months into 2025. A little at a time. And there’s a lot of fun in that. Big thanks to all the suppliers who’ve reached out to collaborate—you’ve been incredibly generous: Autex Acoustics New Zealand VidaSpace BLACK Potters Interiors Ltd Harrows Datum Group Ltd Midland Brick Peter Fell Limited Also, a big shout out to our landlord and neighbours: Cooper and Company Britomart Group Management Company Pearlfisher Capital Limited #InteriorDesign #OfficeDesign #DesignStudioLife #TeamCulture #DEI #Britomart #DesignJourney #Spaceworks #SpaceworksHouse #Auckland

Are You a Carbon Zero Business? Or a Carbon Reduce Business? Or Neither? Potentially controversial view: as a business that’s CarbonZero certified, I favour CarbonReduce. Why? Because the road to a sustainable future demands more than glossy certifications—it calls for tangible, visible reductions in emissions. And in a world that’s seen big businesses simply throw money at carbon offsets, I believe the transparency of CarbonReduce is what resonates. Let’s be real… We’ve all read the headlines: businesses sinking cash into carbon offsets, claiming eco-credit without changing a thing. But here’s the kicker: those headlines stick. You can adjust your policies, tweak your processes, but once it’s out there, it’s engraved in the public’s perception. That’s why reduction is different. Reduction is real. It’s proof of ongoing improvement, warts and all, showing that sustainability is more than a badge—it’s a commitment to transparency and betterment. It’s a process that shows you’re in this for the long game, continuously looking at ways to genuinely improve. Of course, there will be those who say, “You can’t be CarbonZero without reduction.” And, absolutely—Spaceworks has been down that path and knows the value of the certification. But in a climate of skepticism, I’m here to advocate for the authenticity and transparency that CarbonReduce brings to the table. How We’re Taking Carbon Reduction Further At Spaceworks Interior Architecture, we’ve gone a step further by developing our own carbon calculator—an online tool tailored to help construction projects reduce their carbon footprint. We’re not just looking for offsets; we’re achieving an average of 40% carbon reduction, without compromising on budget or timelines. It’s about more than meeting standards—it’s about setting them. CarbonZero may be our certification, but CarbonReduce is our practice. It’s the active path we walk every day to ensure that our commitment to sustainability isn’t just seen, but truly felt. In saying all that, if you want to certify your Fitout as CarbonZero or CarbonReduce- we can do that.
