🚨 Only a few weeks until the holiday shutdown! 🚨 As you're getting ready to take leave it's essential to not only think about taking time off but also how to set ourselves up for a smooth return. We spoke with Pip, who recently returned from four weeks in Africa, about her approach to ensuring a successful re-integration back to work. "Make your future self thank your past self for the preparation." Her top tips? 1️⃣ Handover: Circulate a written handover to the team one week in advance to give them time for questions. 2️⃣ Client/Supplier communication: Make sure all key stakeholders know when you'll be away and who they can contact during your absence. 3️⃣ Plan your first week back: Write down a detailed plan. You'll thank your past self later! 4️⃣ Peer-to-peer 1:1s for managers: If you manage people, connect them with a peer for 1:1s while you're gone to keep things running smoothly. Preparation means that your future self can come back to work ready and refreshed, not overwhelmed. What steps do you take to make your time off truly relaxing? #HolidayPlanning #WorkLifeBalance #Leadership

We had a great time hosting the VC Panel Outset Ventures this morning. The #deeptech community are out to solve the world's problems and it was awesome to see the investor community sharing their knowledge to help founders and teams be as successful as possible in the capital raising process.
Who said crowd work is just for comedians? Some great questions came from the crowd at today's event "The VC Perspective: Beyond Tech, Investing in People" and the panelists were incredibly generous with their advice. Some hard truths were shared to founders: 🙍♀️ Expect a conversation from investors about whether you're the right CEO. You may or may not be, but be prepared to have the conversation 👉 Expect change - in deep tech the team you end with is likely to be very different from the team you start with 👣 It's currently a challenge attracting a lead investor And some tips: Cather Simpson - we look for people who surround themselves with people that are better than they are, supplement their skills in some way. Mat R. - be able to communicate in manageable chunks up and down the chain. Mitali Purohit - with science and engineering we know some things aren't going to work out, we loooove people who communicate and it doesn't all have to be good news. Fleur Clough you facilitated like a boss. Thanks Outset Ventures for providing the space to make this happen.

The people that we place into roles love startups almost as much as we do. We asked four of our recent placements what it was about startup life that kept them in the game. How do values help you as a leader? Rather than a box ticking exercise, they can be your superpower to creating the workplace culture you want. When you have a common language and your team sees you walking the talk and consistently practicing what you preach, they're more likely to jump on board. A shared commitment to values can make leadership a whole lot easier. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gzKzqEAU
