We had the pleasure of being involved in the Unleashing the Potential of Business Events Forum held in Auckland last week! It was an incredible opportunity to collaborate alongside Tātaki Auckland Unlimited bringing together business leaders from NZ and internationally. TCC Managing Director Jan Tonkin put on a different hat, contributing as a speaker sharing insights on the design of association conferences. From all accounts forum was a huge success and we appreciated being part of it.
📢 Auckland Aligns City Priorities Through Business Events! 🚀 This week’s Unleashing the Potential of Business Events forum brought together over 150 national and international business event leaders, and demonstrated the pivotal role business events play in Auckland’s growth as a global destination, attracting diverse sectors and driving significant and lasting outcomes for our community. As Acting Mayor Desley Simpson highlighted, “This opportunity brings the public and private sectors together to focus on how we can further strengthen the region’s prosperity to take Auckland forward.” It was an absolute pleasure to welcome our International Advisors, who brought expert data-driven knowledge and innovative insights, along with our business events partners and economic development decision-makers. Recently, our CSR champion, Conference Admininstrator Carla Britz, stepped away from work for the day and went along to an event organised by Orange Sky New Zealand where she got to see and hear about the amazing work they do. Aligned with World Homeless Day this event brought together community partners, supporters and our street community at Federal Square in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Carla was truly inspired by the amazing work that Orange Sky do, commenting “Seeing firsthand what our support enables them to do was truly incredible and getting to chat with the people today showed what a massive impact Orange Sky has on the homeless community”. 🎀 This month, TCC is proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and yesterday, we went ‘Pink for a Day’ across both Australia and New Zealand. 💖 Our team hit the ‘pink’ brief superbly with fabulous pink outfits and accessories and a sensational pink morning tea. From carefully hand-crafted breast cancer ribbon cookies to lychee rose lemonade the team were on a sugar high. Many of us know someone impacted by breast cancer, and we’re thrilled to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (Australia) and the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ (NZ) in their mission toward zero deaths from breast cancer. Here’s a #throwback from The Universal Conference Directory of New Zealand 1990 (back in the early days of TCC), which Project Manager Caroline discovered when she was visiting Waitakere Resort & Spa recently. Aside from the classified listings featuring 6-digit phone numbers and (of course) a fax number there was a 10-page comprehensive conference checklist. It’s fascinating to see 34 years on that many things have not changed when it comes to executing an excellent conference but there were a few stand out differences: Stationery and other items: 💡 Carbon sets 💡 Typewriter ribbons 💡 Matches & Ashtrays Audio-visual checks: 📼 Tape recorder working? 📼 Slide projector: tested and working?
