While many of our team members will take a well-deserved rest over the next week or two, work for many continues to wind up. Our touring, cruise, urban, rail replacement and InterCity driving teams are laying out the welcome mat for visitors or ensuring friends, families and communities remain connected this festive season. Behind the scenes, many of our operations, yardies, workshop, comms and support teams will also be working through, so thank you to all our teams for their mahi this year and for keeping our wheels, and your wheels, turning over the festive season. 📷 Pete Monk

What a milestone! Our electric bus fleet throughout the North Island collectively travelled over 4.3million kms in 2024. This helps contribute to lowering C02 emissions, reducing noise pollution and particulate emissions in the cities and regions we operate in. Did you know Tranzit’s electric buses are specially designed and built for the different services we operate in Wellington, Palmerston North, Taranaki, Taupo, Waikato and Auckland? It’s not a one size fits all approach. For eg our new three-axle, double deck bus in Waikato (pictured below) has 508kWh of batteries that provide over 350km range, catering for the long distance public transport routes in this region and increasing patronage, while our efficient single deck electric bus in Taupo has 281kW/h of batteries giving it a range of 300km. As we continue to grow our electric bus fleet, our diesel and CO2 savings will continue. • As we continue to grow our team in Auckland and continue to invest in brand new electric buses, our Tranzurban brand is having its own evolution. Proudly bold and always looking ahead, we recently launched "Driving Change, Next stop, tomorrow" to reflect our team who are driving career change, positive change and environmental change. We're now recruiting Class 4 drivers, who share this vision, to join our team. Auckland Transport #electricbus #busdriver #Class4

  • One of the more heart-warming initiatives that Tranzit Coachlines is involved in is Pack the Bus. This annual campaign has been operating in many parts of New Zealand for several years, and this November we are proud to have a dedicated Tranzit bus driving throughout our communities visiting schools, public spaces and businesses to collect donated Xmas presents and non-perishable food items from members of the public. Once the bus is packed; these donated goods are redistributed to families in need during the festive season via official agencies. We are grateful to our partners Media Works, Property Brokers, Paper Plus, Mitre10 MEGA Masterton and councils in each of the regions and towns we operate in to deliver this amazing campaign, which sees the community come together in the spirit of generosity.

It was a great two days at Sustainable Wairarapa's Electrify Wairarapa Conference and Expo where we were invited to present on our electric bus journey to date and highlight where we are heading next. Thanks to James Howard for sharing our story and to the other guest speakers, it was a fascinating insight into how we can all transition to a low carbon future. We also showed off one of our new electric buses, that operate on Horizons Regional Council's public transport network in Palmerston North and Ashhurst. It was a great opportunity for expo-goers to ask our team questions and to meet Marty, one of our fantastic drivers, who shared his personal driving experiences in these modern vehicles. • Our Tranzit Coachlines Manawatu team is still on cloud 9 after being recognised for efficient operations, innovative technologies, reliable service delivery, and adaptability to market challenges, while also showcasing commitment to sustainability, customer satisfaction, and positive economic impact on the Manawatu region following their win in the Manawatū Business Chamber Awards. Tranzit won the Distribution and Logistics Category and was highly commended in the Environmental and Sustainability Category after introducing Australasia's first 100% electric bus public transport fleet into Palmerston North and Ashhurst earlier this year in partnership with Horizons Regional Council. Seeing patronage grow, delivering quality services and having zero emissions from this fleet have been real highlights, so congratulations to all our team!

  • Our bus drivers keep our wheels turning, provide vital connections for our passengers to get safely from A to B and can make your day with a simple smile ... so it has been great to return the smile and say "thank you driver" all this week for Bus Driver Appreciation Week. Don't forget to thank your driver tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that ....

BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK ✨ Today we’re concluding a week of celebrating the dedicated drivers who keep passengers across the Horizons Region moving! This week we celebrated their dedication and invited everyone to join in saying, “Thank you, driver!” as a small gesture to recognise the big impact that they make. We conducted interviews with just a few of the approximately 200 drivers throughout our region from Tranzit Group, Uzabus, and Kinetic, who are pictured above! Bus drivers are the backbone of our transportation services. Covering an impressive 10,000 kilometres daily, these drivers help us provide vital connections for people to get to work, school, shopping, and appointments across our communities. 🚍✨ Their dedication doesn’t just keep us connected; it also fuels regional growth by supporting local employment and improving accessibility for all. 🤝 Thank you to everyone who took part in this week’s campaign, and remember, every day is a good day to appreciate your driver. Let’s keep the gratitude rolling well beyond this week! ➡️ Check out the campaign on our Connect - Horizons Regional Transport Facebook or Instagram pages to learn more about these friendly faces 🫶 #BusDriverAppreciationWeek2024 #ConnectRegionalTransport #ManawatūWhanganui #HorizonsRegion #PublicTransportNZ

  • Incrementally, our brand new electric buses are arriving into Auckland where they will operate on the key WX1, 11T/11W and 120 bus routes - delivering public transport services for Auckland Transport, under our Tranzurban Auckland brand. This comes during an exciting period of growth for Tranzit, as we continue to transition our fleet to electric, invest in our people and invest in charging infrastructure to support this journey.

Whilst many people use buses to travel thousands of kilo meters, what happens when buses need to travel themselves? We’re delighted to have received 23 new electric buses! They have travelled more than 10,000 km across the great seas on board a RORO (roll on roll off) vessel. In keeping with the border regulations, they needed to be customs cleared and MPI cleared to make sure there are no unwanted passengers like the dreaded Brown marmorated stink bugs! Thankfully, the team at Now365 Logistics made the process smooth and seamless ensuring safe delivery of these brand-new electric buses. As part of AT’s Mission Electric, West Auckland’s flagship bus service, the WX1, will be run by fully electric double-decker buses from April 2025. Tranzit Group will bring more than 40 new electric buses to the streets of Tāmaki Makaurau, operating under its Tranzurban Auckland brand on the key WX1, 11T/11W and 120 bus routes. More than half of these will be electric double-decker buses!
